I think people need to chill a little. Many people who are not pilots have a basic view that regardless of situation, any problems under V1, then you must stop. There is ample runway available to stop. A decision to do something else will always be wrong. Life in reality is more complex than that.

Given the very niche nature of these new flights, I wonder if they might pull out a wild contingency plan (like ground the whole fleet was) if they cannot agree with unions. Looking at the seat map the upper deck is blocked out in both directions (ie not being used). Perhaps this means they can operate with less FAs than a typical 747 flight? Jump to post

The mentour video mentions the pilot did a PA after the incident. Is there a video of that floating around that I have missed? The main one from inside the cabin cuts out before any PA.

I am quite certain Qantas do this on their weekday peak time SYD MEL flights, although i have no evidence to back this up. Almost every day they seem to cancel and combine 1-2 such flights. It’s not a huge deal as they operate every 15-30 minutes although it means losing pre assigned seats.

Flightradar24 data on 10 July does not support the flight dropping to 10k feet and then reclimbing.

I generally don't like long haul flights that arrive at 6am. I can't sleep well on planes and you end up having a whole day feeling crap. Plus you often can't get your hotel room before 2pm so you gamble they allow early check in or not. I prefer to arrive late afternoon, have some dinner, get some ...

Fantastic report. I remember a few years ago connecting domestic to domestic at BOM. Had about 90 minutes. But we actually landed at the international terminal and got bussed to domestic... Which took forever. We made it by the skin of our teeth but only after skipping to front of queues. A nightmar...
