Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

Sadly, it appears to be all 343's for LH out SAN this summer. Just did a dummy booking at the LH site and it showed all 343's :-(. We shouldn't complain however, since 5x weekly 343 is better than 0x weekly on anything else. Hey gang, I just noticed a sort of good-news/bad-news situation taking plac...

Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

Hello. I hope I am responding correctly to this post. I've been a follower of BA/Bcal into SAN since I first read about it in the San Diego Union in about 1986 or so. Before merger with BA was announced they (Bcal) wanted to service SAN with direct service to LGW back then with a stop in LAX. I have...

Re: San Diego Thread - 2018

Took a trip though SAN. Spirit has some departures out of the old FIS 20-22 gates but there are lots of barriers in the gate area. I'm assuming the barriers are for the the modifications we've previously discussed. As scheduled, 46 and 47 are closed off for swing gate modification. I took some shot...

Re: San Diego Thread - 2018

What I'm hoping is that someone will produce a virtual tour of the new facilities, from disembarking the arriving aircraft, through to the exit from the FIS into the general public space! Maybe the airport will create something along those lines. That would be great. I will likely never fly out of S...

Re: San Diego Thread - 2018

Surprised this didn't make it on the thread. Bird strike for LH466 forces it to return to FRA. After 5 hour delay, a 333 is substituted for the 343. I wasn't aware a 333 could make it from SAN to FRA but maybe it took off light. Incident: Lufthansa A343 near Amsterdam on May 17th 2018, engine vibrat...

Re: San Diego Thread - 2018

Stumbled across this fare today. It appears bookable on AF website for (11/29/18) only. Direct flight from SAN to CDG coming? AF 303 6:05 PM San Diego, Lindbergh Field 2:00 PM +1 Paris, Charles de Gaulle Air France Operated by Air France Aircraft Boeing 777-300ER I just replicated this and it appea...

Re: Qantas Opportunities for America and beyond

As my local airport, I'd love to see Qantas or Qantas Freight-or Jetstar for that matter-at Phoenix Sky Harbor. Reasons for that happening? Well....aside from British Airways we have no connections to Asia and you have to go through Europe. There are many Asians in Phoenix. Also we have no connecti...

Re: New Lufthansa intercontinental routes

I don't see that coming. PHX is no important hub and I can't think of any reason for an European to get there. Its been an utter failure in PHX for overseas flights. BA is still the only game in town. lol These post certainty didn't age well... :bigmouth: http://condor-newsroom.condor.com/en/us/new...

Re: New Lufthansa intercontinental routes

Could we see JUMP in PHX in the near future? I don't see that coming. PHX is no important hub and I can't think of any reason for an European to get there. I used to live in San Diego and was visiting a friend in PHX when BA started service in summer of 1996. There was an article in the Arizona rep...

Re: Condor Inaugural Flight to SAN on Mo, 5/01/2017

As of 11:36 PDT, DE (Condor) is scheduled to arrive at 6:17 PM, with BA scheduled to arrive at 6:26 PM. That will make for bit of a mess at SAN's FIS facility, which is designed for 350 pax/hour. I can't be there to watch this historic event for SAN, but I sure hope somebody is out there with their ...

Re: Condor Inaugural Flight to SAN on Mo, 5/01/2017

This should make for a interesting Monday this summer. Edelweiss is scheduled to arrive at 5:40, BA is scheduled to arrive at 6:45, and Condor at 6:00. It should make for a interesting crush of arriving pax at the current FIS facility in T2E. Ive never seen 2 simultaneous international wide bodies a...

Re: What's happening lately at SAN?

Long haul announcement Thursday. Haven't seen anything announced by the airport but I hope you are right. When BA and JL was getting ready to be announced, the airport put out a press bulletin indicating a press briefing prior to the formal announcement. That being said, my hypothesis is (in order ...

Re: SAN planning expanded FIS for international flights

Great find! I've been studying materials on this subject from the Sept 15 SDCRAA Board Meeting -- almost 60 pages of proposals, int'l service expectations, financing, time frames, etc. Here's a link: http://www.san.org/DesktopModules/Bring ... &TabId=341 (Move to Item 18 which begins on page 29...

SAN planning expanded FIS for international flights

Just read on the SAN airport page that there are plans in the works to expand the international arrivals capacity at the airport. Currently, gates 20-22 are capable of handling international arrivals. My understanding is that those gates are capable of handling 3 narrow bodies simultaneous or 2 wide...

Something Brewing at SAN - Oktoberfest Events Announced 9/28

A-netters, specifically the SAN spotters. The airports Facebook page has a contest to help promote the seasonal DE service to FRA that starts next May. They indicated that will be a "BIG announcement" on September 28th. So, let the speculation begin. Given the German theme of the promotion...
