Is Allegiant pulling out of Norfolk? They appear to have no flights scheduled in the fall. Perhaps the Breeze there is too strong?
In years past it wasn’t uncommon for them to drastically curtail service in the fall but I don’t think they completely stooped it before, although I am not sure.
When is it expected to open? Last I heard, construction was supposed to take a couple of years so realistically we’re probably looking at 2H2026 at the earliest. Two years to build six gates? If they were just adding six gates to the existing concourses then it probably wouldn’t take that l...

Jump to postThey've had "breeze through" for a while. Maybe since the beginning. ... Yes, I am aware of this. As I said in my post though, they now appear to be offering connections with plane changes. Often these make no sense whatsoever though. For example, ORF-BDL with a nearly 5 hour layover in M...
Jump to postI’m noticing Breeze offering connecting flights with plane changes on their site (not “Breeze-thru”/one-stop/no plane change type stops). Is this new or have they always offered this?
Jump to post… EWR-Florida is probably less likely given inherent constraints at both EWR and in Florida... the Sunshine State is *A LOT* busier these days than it was back in the CO era! Lots of airfield and airspace congestion to factor in.. it takes a long time to get people on and off these 777s, maybe it i...
Jump to postIn addition to the A terminal roundhouse, ORF wants to consolidate the TSA checkpoint and completely redesign the departures area. Also, they want to add an on-site hotel. Jump to postRegarding the JAX addition: I forget now where I read/heard this, but one reason given for the add is Mayo Clinic as JAX is the location of their FL campus. I wonder how much traffic there really is from Mayo between PHX & JAX and if this is a reason for the start of the route? Here is the arti...
Jump to post… Also, to what extent is TLV open to connecting traffic? The last time I tried to connect there, there was no way to do so without going through passport control and getting checked in at the ticket counter. The transit facility they had there was closed. Is there any chance of LY ordering the 787-10 to replace their 777'S? They could be good for routes from TLV to LHR JFK CDG. Heck is there any chance of LY ordering the MAX as well? LY is expected to make a decision on the future replacement of its narrowbody fleet within the year. Given LY’s histo...
Jump to postPHF invested in an expansion during the AirTran days only to have WN pull out after the merger and then have a shiny new concourse with no one to use it. The airport then got caught up in the PeopleExpress relaunch debacle, and eventually dwindled to only having US left. AA, not US, but yes, the 3x...
Jump to post2023 looks to be a big year for aviation in Israel. - Icelandair starting 3x weekly KEF-TLV - Emirates going 3x daily on 777-300 - El Al restarting TLV-DEL and BOM - Air Peace starting ABV-TLV The opening of the Saudi/Oman corridor is also allowing 737 flights to India to commence. I see new flight...
Jump to postAre there any allergists or others who deal with allergies on this thread? My question is: why do we now see allergies to virtually everything? Jump to postWith respect to TLV-HKG… I would guess that at this time they have no spare equipment to operate this route. CAL (a.k.a. Challenge Airlines) operates TLV-HKG cargo flights several times a week. One interesting “feature” of TLV-HKG flights (be it CX or C5 flights) is the dramatic flight paths differe...
Jump to postEL AL doesn’t just overfly Russia, it actually has scheduled flights from Tel Aviv to Moscow several times a week.
Jump to postThey don’t fly ORF-VRB or SRQ But the rest of those markets don’t exactly make sense to offer during the winter when demand dies off and traffic shifts to Florida and other warm destinations. Breeze is like most carriers who will seasonally shift capacity south during the winter. Like all the airli...
Jump to postAnyone else take a look at Breeze's schedule extension into November. Some interesting (and quite a few) omissions, for example I don't see HPN-LAX, SNA-CMH/PIT/CVG, loaded in past September. Jump to postIs Allegiant abandoning ORF? No longer shows up in their fall schedule.
EDIT: looks like they are going on hiatus in Sept but afterwards only bringing Sanford back.
Too much competition from Breeze? (Which BTW appears to be dropping a dozen destinations from ORF in their fall schedule)

Jump to post… I-64 widening has also made RIC more attractive for Peninsula travelers, and once the HRBT expansion opens I'm afraid that'll probably be the end of passenger service at good old Patrick Henry. Jump to postWonder if it could spur Philippines to Isreal? The great circle route for TLV-MNL takes you over Iraq, Iran, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Jump to postOK, it’s official now… The two scheduled EL AL widebodies to BKK yesterday both took the “direct” route through the Gulf of Oman. Jump to postWhtat's the likeness of El Al opening flights to Muscat or Oman Aiir to Tel Aviv now? No chance in my opinion, especially since there are so many easy connections on this route. Jump to postAre El Al flights using Saudi airpsace as of now? I recall a flight to BOM as of Dec '22 was still flying over the Red Sea after using only a sliver of KSA airspace. What's with that? Jump to postIn a follow-up development, Oman has agreed to open its skies to ‘all airliners’ which ‘meet the requirements of the 1944 Chicago Convention’. This is “code-word” for allowing Israeli carriers to overfly its airspace.

I suspect this may have something to do with the airport’s master plan (Israeli National Infrastructure Plan No. 4 revision 2; תמ״א/2/4) which does not permit 4-engined planes to land on the the airport’s main daytime landing runway (direction 21) except under extenuating circumstances (such as say ...
Jump to postGlad to see Avelo putting up stakes at PHF, but I think the future of this airport, sandwiched between RIC and ORF, remains bleak. This is because IMO the raison d'être for PHF has always been the constrained capacity of I-64 between RIC and ORF. However, the most congested section of I-64 north of ...
Jump to post… SYD is only an additional 250 miles compared to MEL. Eastbound with the wind won’t be an issue at all. It’s a long flight, but certainly not the longest. Jump to postEl Al can now join the league of other ME carriers in funneling traffic from India to the West, through their hub. Jump to postAs has been discussed on previous forums, this will drastically reduce flight times from TLV to India, Thailand, and will open up new markets such as SIN, MNL, and MEL. Jump to postOne of the biggest benefits to come out of this change is that India will be easily reachable from TLV using B737 and A320 narrowbodies.
