The chord length is merely a reference length. The actual symbol used in Moment coefficient is l. The reference length is chosen to pertain to the given geometric shape. For an airplane wing, l is the mean chord length.

VFSG’s are for variable frequency electrical systems. A 737, be it an NG or MAX has no such system.

The only welding I ever saw on the airplane was to fix a crack on a pack heat exchanger. That would be in a safe area to weld.

As was stated earlier, if the tire was found flat on arrival, both the flat tire and the opposite tire have to be replaced. A321 wheels take much longer to change due to brake fans (if equipped). Plus, if the contract maintenance personnel have little experience with these wheels, you are looking at...

You must have flown on a 707-331. They were finally retired in 1979. This was probably planned a long time and there was no point painting them in the new livery unless necessary.

This question is more easily answered with regards to engines. For me, no question, the easiest engine is the RR Trent 892. Most things are mounted on the fan case, which gives much easier access. On a 777, you can access the forward cargo from the E&E compartment, which itself is accessed from a hatch in the floor in the first class galley. To open that hatch you need to be able to unlock it. The 787 has no such access.

Probably a faulty or improperly adjusted door proximity sensor. The passenger door may be locked mechanically, but the prox sensors says otherwise. There are witness windows at the bottom of the door to verify the door is locked, or to say the girt bar fully engages the door cutout locks.

I wonder if AA even has any wide body gates in SEA. Last time I was there, AAs gates were clustered around the north end of the terminal. It was very congested with narrow bodies, can’t imagine wide bodies.

The thing you must remember, aircraft brakes are on landing gear that retracts into limited space. That motion limits what you can do with aircraft brakes. Generators, motors, batteries and the associated wiring and control systems would make this all impractical.

Motive flow for the center tank scavenge jet pumps is provided by the main (wing) tank boost pumps. For those unfamiliar, motive flow from the main tank pumps flow through a jet pump in the center tank, and suck out fuel that can’t be picked up by the center tank pumps, and sends it to the main tank...

For most airlines, if a plane overnights at an outstation, say Fresno, no check is performed. Contact maintenance usually will only fix inbound items in the logbook. Planes are routed through airline maintenance stations often enough for checks to be done then. Checks can be scheduled during the day...

In my training materials, for later build 300-ERs, the 2 center tank override pumps are used to jettison fuel. They each have an output of 25,000 lbs/hr. I see no mention of “dual pump units”.
