Re: What replaces LH 346?

Hello! I am interested in what LH decides to put on its FRA-HKG routes during summer 2020. I am scheduled on LH 797 in J and as of today, it remains a 346, which AFAIK, are all stored indefinitely. Being on the route at least once a year, anecdotal evidence suggests high loads in F. Post Covid, the...

Re: 777 - 25 years in commercial service

Horrible plane. Has made Boeing lot of money and tortured passengers around the world. Noisy and cramped. Get over yourself. The 777 was a game changer in terms of cabin architecture and design. The 10 across seating is a relatively (last 3-5 years) new phenomenon, implemented by the airlines, not ...

Re: 777 Retirement/Scrapping Thread - 2020

With the LH concern already publicly saying they are coming out a smaller (but possibly stronger in relation to the equally ailing competition) carrier post Corona chances are quite high AUAs 777 fleet might be axed. I wouldnt be surprised at all if some aging BA and AF 77Es might also not return t...

Re: Updated: BA fleet parking, at 40+ including 747s, A380s

It’s St Athan not St Albans, and not exclusively as Victorville was the favoured place beforehand. Not sure a press release is ever done as you suggest, but in all fairness, the summer 2020 program is trashed, the quads won’t be needed for winter and next summer will be a challenge. But no one know...

According to this, the 5 that were sent to Teruel will be scrapped https://ukaviation.news/british-airways-retires-5-boeing-747-jumbo-jets/ There seems to be a lot of contradictory information in regards to the status of G-CIVA/R/S/T/X, with reliable sources such as BA Fleet on Flyertalk (which hav...

Re: Rumor: British Airways to paint 4 aircraft in retro livery

I'm lead to believe that G-CIVB is due to leave the fleet in November - hardly around for 'a long time'....... I know the rumour-mill generally tries to be helpful but when so many people jump on it, in an attempt to be the oracle of information, things get distorted. Perhaps best to wait and see e...

Re: BA W18 Austin 77W

When is BA expected to roll out 3-4-3 in Y for their LHR based 777? Is it due to start this year? The priority at present is to densify the LGW based 777s first which should be completed by the end of the year before moving onto the LHR examples. Only the Rolls-Royce powered 772s are being densifie...

Current aircraft being used to Austin are the Mid-J configured Boeing 747-400s which have not been refurbished, compared to the 18 Super Hi-J configured examples which were refurbished between 2015 to 2016. [twoid][/twoid] About half of BA’s 747’s were upgraded a couple years back with new interior...

Re: Virgin A340-600 (G-VWIN) flew to the scrappers last month but Virgin has bought it back!

So I thought this was an interesting situation and was curious if it has happened before? Virgin Atlantic sold G-VWIN to a scrap yard in Mississippi and the airplane was flown there last month for scrapping. Well for whatever reason (maybe due to 787 issues?) Virgin has bought the airplane back fro...

What does British Airways import and export to and from Philadelphia International Airport. Is the London to Philadelphia British Airways route doing good? People. Nope, it's not doing good. noticed this morning the Cathay Pacific flight being operated by the A350... is this a permanent switch from the 777? If so when did this happen as I haven't noticed before... Further to what Andy33 mentioned, Boeing 747-400's returned to BA192/193 on 30th October 2016 following the change-over from the Summer to the Winter schedule and according to Airline Route, the Summer 2017 schedule from 26th March 2017 will continue to see Boeing 747-400's instead of Boeing 777-300...

I forgot about MSY starting this Spring.

So the earlier SEA-LHR flight (5x weekly) is just a 777-200ER?

As far as I'm aware, the 5 times weekly BA52/53 will remain 772 whilst BA48/49 converts to 744 operation for the S17 schedule.

Re: BA S17 Planned 77W, 788, 789 Routes?

Having checked BA's schedules, I agree it is frustrating their online reservations system does not differentiate between Boeing 777's and Boeing 787's. Normally, Airline Route (or Routes Online) regularly posts updates to airline schedules, usually BA alters the majority of their Summer schedules in...

Re: UA: Foolish For Not Ordering 737 MAX 8/A321neo?

Looking over UAs fleet, they are the only major U.S. airline that has not either ordered the 737 MAX 8 or A321neo. They will end up with 136 737-900ERs, which is a lot for a fleet that size, and I don't see the point in adding 100 more planes of that size. What would be wrong with ordering 60+ A321...
