Moroccan flag carrier RAM is resuming operations tomorrow 06/15 with a decision from King Mohamed VI to lower fares to AFAIK unprecedented levels. For instance, during peak season YUL/JFK/IAD - CMN return will be on sale for less than 900USD, CMN - TUN at circa 250USD, and the flagship route to Pari...Jump to post
Whats the reasoning behind MIA? I know AC also flew 787 cargo flights YYZ-MIA too. Is it to pick up cargo flown in by other carriers across Latin America to YYZ or is MIA a major exporter of something that I am missing? I am curious why LAX was not chosen given all the California fresh produce that...Jump to post
But Spain has big ports like Barcelona, Valencia, Malaga, Cadiz and Algeciras if you wanna call it spain. Maersk has big operations there and MSC is headquartered in Valencia. The pavilion is weak in number of vessels registered because of other cheaper flags.Jump to post
Most airlines register a European subsidiary in Malta for tax reasons. I'll explain soon. But first to answer your question. In my previous company, we were doing the handling for some airlines with Maltese subsidiaries, including Freebird Europe and Corendon Europe. Legally speaking, they are thei...Jump to post
It's EU regulated and everything safety wise is JAR and done the proper way. For maintenance and operations purpose it is not required to have personnel based at MLA. All they need to show is a contract with a certified MRO somewhere in the world and a local FBO and/or OPS agent for everyday needs i...Jump to post
As per flight numbers the only ones am sure of are the LTUs. LT630/1 DUS-MIR-DUS with L10, rarely L15, MD-11, A330. LT632/3 DUS-MIR with B767. LT636 MUC-MIR with B757/67. Started with LTS as LU636. LT638 HAM-MIR. LT634 FRA-MIR then the later SXF, LEJ, STR, HAJ.. flights had different pattern than th...Jump to post
BIA too was present at MIR every summer with the BAC 1-11s until they got the MD-83 then went out of business. Calair with DC-10 from LGW in 1988 then Novair in 1989 with DC-10 from Gatwick on the night Saturday to Sunday with lots of delays and brand new B737-400 from MAN every Friday afternoon. Looking for any schedule/timetable or souvenir photo or something of the charters or regular services to Tunisia over the 70s, 80s, 90s. This can be sourced from travellers or crew for example. I lived those sweet times, but made no tangible souvenir of it.Jump to post
First Tunisian airports are not IASA Category 1. It's not Category 2 either. In fact no assessment so far, so no link possible between any US and Tunisian point. Not even on code-share or interline. And also there is no bilateral agreement to define traffic rights. So forget about this fantasy for n...Jump to post
TK is adding 4 weekly flights to TUN on days 1246 using a mix of A330 and A32S.Jump to post
Its unbelivable how AC can make ALG or CMN work (and look at TUN as a potential) but have stayed away from AMM or BEY! Politics aside we know why but still, would love to see those. AMM is already served by RJ and didn't grow in years. Still two weekly with capacity shared with DTW. For BEY better ...Jump to post
YUL has some African routes to dig into. I believe Air Senegal would start Montreal whenever it is possible. Either Rouge or Air Canada may start TUN as the route grows organically, just like they did for CMN and ALG. France can grow with Air Transat and the NEOs. Canada wise, Saskatchewan needs a n...Jump to post
Tunisair and RAM already don't sit at the same table. I see no impact other than the one happened already years ago when the Moroccans started taking healthy decisions and doing better airline business. OW will allow RAM to become a reknown network carrier. OW will allow RAM a worldwide networking. ...Jump to post
TUN-MUC route got an increase from both TU and LH. Tunisair goes 5 weekly on days 1.3456. and Lufthansa 3 weekly on days ...4.67 with LH2634 and LH1744 on Saturday.. do not know the reason for that change in flight number. Tunisair cancels LIS again after it's been listed on GDS with a single weekly...Jump to post
They can even deploy an A330 to Djerba and won't struggle to fill it. They come back and forth for a number of affairs. Tunisair schedules only three flights a week to London, two to LGW and one LHR. Weird.
Could it be that TU leased out their LHR slots?
Latest Amadeus timetable update shows Tunisair TUN-LON service with three flights a week, Tuesday LHR and Wednesday and Thursday LGW. That means they lost the day 1 slot at Gatwick and days 567 at Heathrow. Weird planning to say the few and wonder how much they could save (and not lose) if they clos...Jump to post

ACL initial coordination report for S20 is a bit confusing. The table shows 4 pairs granted for Nouvelair meaning two weekly flights, but the significant route changes table mentions 4 weekly A320 to NBE as follows: Proposed new four per week NBE May-Oct with A320, Wed, Fri, Sat & Sun. Pretty awful mismanagement by Tunisair to lose the slots back to ACL (for nothing) and not to sell them to someone else if they couldn't use them properly. Literally throwing money away. Anyway, as mentioned above, a Chinese carrier will probably be happy to pick them up. Absolutely. As a public co...Jump to post
Any source to that? It seems also that easyJet has requested some slots at Tunis Carthage airport. We may finally see another airline than Tunisair on the London route. I heard that Nouvelair has been granted rights of traffic on a Tunis-London route. No schedule announcement so far. Nouvelair woul...Jump to post
Tunisair should have traded its LHR slots years ago now. LHR is useless in its network map. Any other London airport would fit the need. Think they stuck it out because for several years after the Port El Kantaoui terrorist outrages when UK carriers were prevented by the UK government from flying t...Jump to post
According to Tunisair CCO, the rumour of the airline loosing its Heathrow slots is neither true nor false! Talks are in progress with ACL and there is also a diplomatic relay to try to keep the four weekly LHR slots available. According to him, the weekend slots are more likely to go. If so, there w...Jump to post
Nouvelair will be flying TUN-BRU 3 times a week as of S20 and adding SXB as well. BRU has been a Tunisair undeliberate monopoly since SABENA ended operations. Insider also told me Nouvelair has been granted traffic rights for a London airport, more likely LGW, as well as Casablanca. If so, TUN-CMN w...Jump to post

Lufthansa NEOs have already operated to TUN, ALG and CMN. These are 2-3 hour flights. IMO they are being scheduled with the CEOs and not separately that's why you may find them on shorter runs over a longer period. No destination has a dedicated NEO so far.Jump to post
Pleasant terminal that is YWG with lots of room for growth. International flights are Sun and US. I don't think Hawaii gets a non-stop in Winter. In 16 or 17 WestJet tried a bi-weekly B767 service to LGW, but discontinued ever since. Icelandair was for years rumoured to start Winnipeg even before YY...Jump to post
Liked watching this film. Wonder what he and the managing team think of the scene in Canada now and how did the youngers evolv in the airline industry after the 1989 sale.
All these flights are part of holidays packages and very few seats are sold "dry". Being for vacationers, schedule planning is different from typical business routes like YYZ-LGA for example, that's why an airline like Sunwing can depart two services to the same point 5 minutes apart.
