I remember that CX introduced HKG-LAX non-stop on the the B744. It only served SFO in the USA via YVR on the B742 due to range limitations and starting JFK via YVR later on. Anyone have schedules of CX in the 1990's when they introduced SFO/LAX?

Pre-COVID El Al was planning to start Tokyo Narita (NRT) non-stop from TLV, one of the key markets in Asia for high-tech businesses. Are they still planning on launching the route, if so when? They cancelled PEK, only have HKG, BOM and BKK/HKT in Asia for now.

Holy crap. That's far more south that QF/LATAM's EZE/SCL-AKL/SYD/MEL. ANZ, QF and LATAM have never gone so far south over Antarctica. This is ETOPS330 territory.

Is there a chance of NH/UA serving IAD-HND instead of IAD-NRT? Or is greater connecting traffic flows very important on this route? (And competing with KE on ICN and CA on PEK).

Is the flight stopping in Darwin for quarantine purposes instead of flying EZE-SYD direct? Remember QF has ETOPS330 on its 787 fleet for South America to Oceania flights I believe.

I just read that the US-AU freight market is red hot. How much cargo can QF carry on the A380 LAX-SYD/MEL? I assume the US3 and Virgin Australia's A350/777/787 can carry more. I heard that the A380 is freight limited compared to the 777.

I remember UA flying HKG-SGN as a tag off the SFO-HKG flight initially as a 744 and later a GUM based 738. I know NW flew to CAN and PUS from NRT using a 752. Did NW ever fly to Vietnam like UA?

Did DL cancel ICN-MNL? Pre-COVID there was a loyal FF base ex-NW that DL decided MNL was a station DL had physical presence. Now post-COVID it’s easier to flow the traffic to KE.

Remember UA is late due to SAA in Star Alliance but JNB IS THE BEST business market in Africa and the HQ of many African multinationals (MTN, Liquid Telecom, De Beers). Of course having no competition UA hit a home run on the 789 JNB-EWR.

BNE-SFO/LAX is longer than SEA-HKG which DL tried to stretch the limit. I'd be curious to know the BNE-SFO/LAX payload on QF's A332.

Did DL cancel ICN-MNL? I understand the reason DL is keeping the MNL station open is due to the large amount of Filipinos loyal to DL for TPAC service. With the pandemic I am assuming its easier for DL to push MNL traffic onto KE.

Remember QF have experience with ETOPS and has flown AKL-LAX on the A332. BNE-LAX/SFO is not that much longer.

The age of popularity contests of flying the A380 is over except for EK maybe. Also the A380 has limited range/payload for cargo in comparison to mega twins (B777, B777X, A350). A350 and 787 is great for upgrading older 77E/A330's.

China Eastern MD-11's

China Eastern flew the MD-11 as their first wide-body to LAX, PEK-SEA-ORD and some destinations in Europe. Where in Europe and elsewhere did they fly? They upgraded to the A346 and then the B77W/A359.

How are the loads/yields do you think DL will have on ATL-JNB with UA now daily on EWR-JNB on the 789 with the new Polaris on some flights? Is 2 US3 carriers on JNB too much or is South Africa an exploding market as it is rumored ATL-JNB pre-COVID was DL's most profitable flight due to no competition?

I find it interesting VS now fly to the largest markets in Africa (LOS, JNB, CPT) and Asia (PVG, HKG, DEL, BOM) but not Latin America. The TLV route survives on US connections. Is there any chance of VS launching MEX, CUN or GRU? There is limited competition to Latin America from the UK with no ME3.

HA serves BNE but not MEL but MEL is the 2nd most important Oceanian city after SYD due to corporates and multinationals. HA is already there for LCC travel to the Americas via HNL. A far fetch when travel recovers is BNE-DFW on QF/AA in addition to LAX/SFO.

The majority of Canada's international traffic based on immigrant statistics is TATL/TPAC and not Latin. YYZ/YUL-JFK caters to that demand and YYZ/YUL-LGA caters to the O&D demand. There's also SEA, MSP & DTW.

The only reason to fly SFO-MIA is for *A Latin connections which in this age UA can provide itself via IAH.
