Re: Chicago Aviation Thread - 2020

Here's the Tribune article on the topic as well. I'm glad to hear the T5 expansion is proceeding, but I'm growing more skeptical by the day on the rest of the ORD21 and OGT. This project requires heavy buy-in from the airlines (literally) and with AA and UA (and DL too for that matter) on life supp...

Re: Austrian Airlines CEO: These planes (767/777) no longer have a future

Can the A321XLR make it to New York from Vienna? I mean once you factor in all the winds and non-direct routing. New York almost definitely. It is only 3600 nm, the A321XLR can do 4700 nm. It could do it with an average headwind across the entire route of over 120 knots. The basic A321LR already di...

UA may have already driven AI out of ORD. As per the OAG thread, AI is discontinuing DEL-ORD from April 2021. I realize it is a few months away and AI may change schedules later but I will not be surprised if AI is out of ORD. Looks like they are dropping IAD as well. Wow, this would be huge news f...

ORD-DEL is going to be a tough one considering AA failed on that route for a long while. The list of markets that UA succeeded in from ORD that AA failed in (or discontinued) is quite long. I am excited for the UA add from ORD to Delhi. I've flown on Air India multiple times and I've chosen fly oth...

I remember seeing a TWA 747 at the end of the G concourse at ORD waiting to board to LHR. I thought it was so cool that they had a double jetway setup at the end of the concourse. I’m sure it was the only double jetway at ORD during that era. I don’t believe UA had any in T2. I have read that at one...

The project you are referring to (A North Phase II) doesn't have anything to do with AA. IIRC, the 74s stopped just before 2000 when the NRT flight ended. Japan allowed more flights in 1998 I think. Before then, there was 7x on NW, 7x on JL and 6x on UA, all to NRT. After some long negotiations Japan opened up more flying which allowed AA to begin daily flights along with NH and UA inc...

2027 is also the time the new ORD T2 is scheduled to open with more widebody gates for UA and AA. That date will probably move as nothing is done at ORD on time.
