Does anybody know which Snowbird plane this was?
Jump to postDo they have any more 787-9 on order? Which plane will operate the 3rd Project Sunrise flight?
Jump to postThey've just pushed back. Let the fun begin!
Jump to postThe JFK-SYD flight on Friday will operate under the flight number QF7879 Departing JFK 2100 Arrive in SYD 710+2 Scheduled flight time 19hrs 10 mins https://twitter.com/lb_SFO/status/1184509485680713729?s=20 VH-ZNI according to that tweet. But 19 hours isn't that big of a deal...Singapore flies an 1...
Jump to postWhen I listen to an ATC clearance they'll say something like "expect flight level three eight zero one zero minutes after departure..." but it (probably, based on my experience) almost always takes much longer, like close to 30 minutes, to reach FL380. Maybe exceptions could be bizjets or ...
Jump to postAny tips or suggestions on taking pictures during the summer? Are there any spots that are better? Do photos have a bad problem with heat distortion here?
Jump to postNever seen photos of PHX overhead either, but MIA and LHR have been done, so why not PHX? Worth a shot I'd say. Does PHX have a VFR corridor running overhead/next to the airport? I found this PHX Class B chart and it looks like there is an east and west transition route but those I think are for tr...
Jump to postI am curious about doing it at PHX. Has anyone done it there? Does ATC allow it? Since the terminal layout between 2 sets of runways is similar to LAX I don't see why it could not happen. But I have yet to see a photo.
Jump to postAll the news media is reporting this is an 18+ or 19 hour flight but the actual flight time is way less. In fact, at 17:10 currently, there are probably a half dozen flights that are a little bit longer than this! Tomorrow's SQ22 is only planned at 18:05. The return flight is showing 16:44. So if to...
Jump to postSome of the planes retired last night will become fire tankers - 5 probably, as they already did one and I think Coulson bought 6 of them. Anyone know which they are?
Jump to postWhen I go to the site on the desktop using Internet Explorer it displays the mobile version, which is bad because everything is blown up to fit the screen. How do I turn this off, so it will view in desktop??
Jump to postMaybe now that there is fresh management, it will be an organization that can re-make airliners.net into a photographer-friendly place...and by that I mean easing up on the crazy photo screening standards (like where they nitpick on two bad pixels out of 3 million) that are sending otherwise great p...
Jump to postWhen I visit the site on a desktop computer with Internet Explorer browser it comes up with the mobile site and no option to change it. The pictures are all blurry too, as they get resized to browser width. Can this be fixed?
Jump to postOh, are all the images since the migration getting new ID#s? I see they are at 3,877,000. My most recent was 2,800,000+. Did they really jump by a million? Also, all of my photos in the database say accepted July 11 but the actual acceptance date of the most recent was in May!
Jump to postOn a related note, is it possible to bring back in some form the queue number so we can tell approximately how close to getting screened we are?
Jump to postUnder the old system there was a way to create a URL for a string of specific photos. For example, this is one: http://www.airliners.net/search/photo.s ... 51,2294852 This does not work anymore. I need to know, what would be the way to write out a search result for specific ID numbers like that in t...

Jump to postWho would be the right person to contact to remove a duplicate photo? I contacted one of the support staff and never heard back.
Jump to postI went up with them in January. I took the 50D with 100-400 attached, no teleconverter. It worked out fine. I was in the R22
and it was tight. There certainly isn't much room in there.

Ok. The Qantas shot was one that I re-did at the original 1024. My original was 3800. Not all of my finished originals are the same size, some are bigger than 3800. I have re-done some others at larger sizes than 1024, like 1200.. I will keep you posted on how the larger sizes do.

[Edited 201...
Jump to postAlso, does it help to save the images for upload in a larger size? For example, if my original edited image is say 4000px and I save it down to 1024 to upload, then does the small detail on a plane like titles, windows, etc tend to appear oversharp because its so small?
Jump to postWell that is certainly very hard to see on my monitor, and I have a good quality one. I tried again with less sharpening, does this look better? http://www.airliners.net/addphotos/b.../b145543429...

Jump to postWhy am I reading reports that some passengers say it will be weeks before they get their luggage? How difficult is it to get luggage carts out to where that plane is being stored?

I also hate these new ads. This is going to effect the views on our photos. Nobody is going to sit thru videos on every picture. Jump to postWas the 7847 rejected for dark? I don't see it. What I do see is the picture is way too bright and doesn't have much contrast. Could be soft too. Are you shooting in raw? If so when you convert you should be able to lower the exposure level.

Jump to postAny idea what the serial number would be? They made an effort to make AF1 in sequence (26000, 27000, 28000, 29000) so I think they would have to back-date the order to a "13" fiscal year in order to keep the sequence. It would have to be 13-0000 and 13-1000. If I remember correctly it took an execut...
