Re: Portland, OR (PDX) - Airlines missing profitable opportunities...?

[b]lAlso, VX ending PDX-LAX was a shock. They said that the PDX-LAX route was too competitive for them, but whenever I was on a VX flight from PDX to LAX, it was always 95-100% full. Just because a flight is full doesn’t mean it’s profitable. How many flights did we all take in the 2000s that were ...

Only if DL could secure EAS funding for it, otherwise they'd be very expensive and meaningless ferry flights.

Re: Will the A320-200 CEO become the next DC-3?

Part of the reason the DC-3 still flies today because it is an unpressurized aircraft, and thus does not suffer the long-term effects of repeated pressurization cycles that affect nearly all airliners since.

Re: What Will Replace UA's 777-200A Aircraft?

Huh? The 777As are flying daily flights on some of the longest "domestic" routes. UA is the #1 carrier to the islands, so why would they suddenly dump a bunch of flights for seasonal routes when perfectly capable widebodies will be in the fleet to replace them? Because "perfectly cap...

The last UA DC-10 was parked in February 2001, and with it went the ORD-HNL route. 9/11 was not a factor since it hadn't happened yet.

Re: What Will Replace UA's 777-200A Aircraft?

Afaik, the 19 UA 77As will be replaced by 38 739s. It's the sad truth. The 739s can't fly ORD-HNL for example... When UA retired the DC-10 and 747 classic, it had no replacement to fill the void. The 777 may have been created and ordered for that purpose, but ended up being used exclusively for int...

Re: Potential accident involving AC 759 prevented at SFO.

Just put up some damned lighted X's at the ends of these taxiways and call it good. Taxiway landings are a serious issue and yet they keep happening. Happened at SEA a few years ago, Harrison Ford had a close call at SNA a few months ago, and now this incident at SFO could have ended horrifically. P...

Re: ATW says drop UA rebrand as CO

UA would use some popular anime series/character (ie, Pretty Cure and Aino Megumi/Cure Lovely) as a promotion to restore UA's image and faith, similarly to how Toyota used Hatsune Miku, a popular Vocaloid character (along with Rin and Len Kagamine), as a promotion for their 2011 Corolla, as well as...

Considering that their counterparts in United, Delta, Continental, American and the like have gone for one or more radical changes in the look and feel of their brand over the last many years, would PanAm have caught the bug too? Technically, Continental still hasn't updated their branding since th...

Of course they fear for their jobs, they're way overpaid and that is going to come to an end. I can understand they're upset, but that doesn't mean they're right. They've been spoiled for years, ever since the beginning of their carreer. Clearly you've never flown for or known anyone that flew for ...

Yep, and here we'll keep going. United insults its legacy employees by calling it the "New" spirit when it's plastered on to the three-decade old livery of a different airline.
