Re: Blue Panorama flight 1504, right or wrong decision?

As most above have attested to, if you’re questioning the PIC on this one, you’ve never flown a V1 cut. Training on all three of my types, and in particular in my ATP/CTP course focused on the fact that an abort near V1 is *significantly* more likely to result in an over run than just continuing the...

Re: Completely Disobedient Pilot Refuses to Vacate LAS Class B Without Clearance/Argues With ATC

Okay, so doing a little research, the business address of the company was in 2019 a Mailboxes and More in Redondo Beach. Next to a Papa Guido's Pizza. Oddly, on the same form, he lists a service of process address as a fairly-modest house in Torrence, although given the real estate prices out there...

Re: Delta A350 in El Paso

In terms of flying the 350 vs say 777 for these charters, my guess would be that marginal costs are lower, hence the frame choice.

Not tournament related but they are advertising packages for golfers to play Pinehurst. There's a lot of money in the HPN area that would be interested in a getaway to Pinehurst for a few days of golf.

Yeah, should have said that lol.

How you could deduce that the plane ran out of fuel after seeing the damage to the cowlings and the plane obviously in the air subsequently is beyond me. Botched go-around if I had to guess. Overly eager gear retraction prior to positive rate of climb.

Yeah, they're doing a terrible job lol. We're all laid off in fact, and I hear they're passing charters on to other operators. We flew mainly within the USA, sometimes to Mexico/Hawaii.

Re: Private Aviation after COVID

I find it very hard to believe that business will increase to the degree some are predicting for us in 135. The Gulfstream I was flying has had 1 trip request since March. We used to fly weekly. On the margin, yes, we'll get a little more business from those that were on the bubble, but the VAST maj...

Re: United exercises options for 7 787-10s

When you say the 757s and 767s are junior at UA I'm not sure I fully understand what you are comparing them to. Are you comparing them to the 777 and 787s or are you comparing them to the A320/19 and 737s? Also when is a junior person no longer consider junior? Personally I (although not a pilot) n...

Re: United exercises options for 7 787-10s

United announced pilot furloughs and base closures and now are adding these planes? Wondering how UA fleet cuts compare to AA/DL.A sad Fall is approaching for US carriers...I suspect there will be another industry bailout NO furloughs have been announced!!!!! For god sakes people LISTEN TO THE ACTU...

Re: Just how important is overbooking to airlines?

This thread title is missing the "and consumers" at the end. It's surprising how many people no-show or otherwise don't make a flight. Stopping overbooking will raise costs for the airline, leading to less supply/higher fares. Load factors will drop, leading to more flights being needed t...

Re: FAA agrees to Santa Monica airport closure

Anyone think that the eventual removal of Class D airspsace will bring LAX arrivals lower over SM? Wouldn't mind seeing at least the noise based argument backfire on the city. what a shame.

Right, because it is more important to discuss how many people showed up at an inauguration event... We the consumers elected Schumer to work on our behalf. Enough with the nickle and diming already. Uh no. WE didn't. Not sure you understand how senators are elected but i didn't vote for him. Nor d...

Re: ATC Error Nearly Causes Crash near LAX

Surely the crew must have some basic geographical knowledge about any airport they fly to (e.g. - the ocean is here, the airport is here, downtown is here, mountains are here). Is there any indication they knew they were flying towards mountains? Looking at the FAA chart for the VTU7.RZS departure,...

Re: ATC Error Nearly Causes Crash near LAX

Even if the controller mistakenly issued an instruction to turn LEFT heading 180, shouldn't these guys have been somewhat hesitant? Any departure briefing should have included the fact that there is terrain to the north of the airport, as well as departures from the north complex. It's hard not to f...
