They ought to be spending money on making the cabin quieter for starters. By far the noisiest cabin I hve been in with the exception of the BA146. That’s just not true. The Bae-146 was not loud in the cabin. I was cabin crew on that aircraft. The engines and the slipstream were way quieter than the...Jump to post
UA has completely retracted from a mixture of mainline/E175 all the way down to just 3 daily CRJ2 daily. UA’s logic seems to be a bit off, or they know something everyone else doesn’t. This has happened a lot in Fresno too: jump back and forth from a CR2 to mainline. I don’t get it, no one from big...Jump to post
[ There's no doubt that Kirby's arrival at UA coincided with the company really hitting its stride. Many wonder if he was really the brains behind the Parker-Kirby operation. codc: I remember reading an interview with Doug Parker after Scott Kirby. Parker said he fired Kirby and something like it w...Jump to post
Thanks Enilria. Very substantial increases from Delta this week. There are about 42 routes showing increases (when looking at the first month of changes) while 9 show decreases (PUJ makes up 4 of them with decreases from ATL, BOS, DTW, JFK). Where is Delta getting the planes from to show all of the...Jump to post
Just took a quick look and both AA and DL are now operating all flights with Dual Cabin aircraft while UA continues to operate two-three CRJs. Looks as Delta has planned to hold on to the morning mainline albeit operating with A319 equipment to LAX over winter through March, it'll go back to E175 f...Jump to post

I don't know the exact day it starts (~Sep. 2) but it looks like DL is rescheduling SMF-DTW as a daytime flight (departing ~12pm), upgauged to a 739. Looks like they're adjusting for fall demand. Currently there is 3x daily to MSP and 1x to DTW. The DTW comes into SMF in the afternoon and turns aro...Jump to post

Panamair - thanks so much for compiling all of this info. For both the quarter and YTD. Indeed fascinating stuff. I hope you continue to put this together after each quarter!
On a related note, who ships through DHL in the US? I haven't seen a package delivered from them in years. Anybody sending anything abroad or receiving anything from abroad, including freight. DHL has a huge business to and from CONUS. Asia, Latin America, Europe, etc. This is correct. We get most ...Jump to post
The DEN clubs have always been an afterthought compared to the other hubs. I believe they put new furniture in recently, though I haven't heard of anything to renovate the clubs to match the refurbished ones at SFO, LAX, and elsewhere. They really should do something, especially if they're not goin...Jump to post

Now the tables have turned IMO- AA and to a lesser extent, UA are chasing DL. And my marketing/sales friend at AA and UA admit this privately to me. (they can because I'm now out of the industry) That isn't an industry secret and even UA's management has stated we are chasing DL. I'll take it a ste...Jump to post
One thing I've found odd about SMF is the lack of breakfast options at the airport, especially since the majority of flights leave in the morning. I agree. It seems like Paesano's is never open. Not in the morning when a gazillion people are there. and not tonight at 9:15, when my Delta flight from...Jump to post

Anyone who catches the A221 out of DFW will be in for an enjoyable trip. Had the chance to fly a 221 last week on DFW-SLC on my way to SEA and was blown away by what a great ship it is. I wasn't too happy when DL swapped out the scheduled 221 with a 712 on my DTW-DFW return flight, but I'd gladly t...Jump to post

More A220s than any one of the hubs. I see this as a stealth way for DL to challenge AA in their DFW hub. It's not a full on attack with tons of capacity which would precipitate a massive response (and DL already tried that once). It's a way to see if they can shake lose some AA flyers - enough to ...Jump to post

Why doesn't this surprise me. Citing customer comfort as the reason for giving you less how ironic. Thing is, there is only that much space - and your recline may mean less room for me or vice versa. New OAG changes: DL DTW-SMF SEP 0.8>0.6 As a loyal Delta flyer - about once a week over the past month with the same on tap -- the issue for me is, there aren't may places that DTW is a better connecting option than ATL or MSP or SLC. About the only places that I fly to that would make sense to ...Jump to post

Anyone notice, no predictions about DL expanding in Fresno? DL seems to enjoy their place as the least relevant Big 3 airline for Fresno. June 8th Thank you. So is this a change in the original deployment plan? I recall that the A220 was coming to DTW, SLC and MSP next on the Texas routes. How is the aircraft flowing to SEA? I took a look at the American Eagle operation out of JFK compared to last year and the year before. Pretty much everything else went from 50 seaters to 44 seaters. For years, we've been told that the cheapening of the product for legacy airlines has no negative impacts on financial performance. at hubs obsessing about D:00 will lead to an increase in the most angering sort of missed connections. An awful lot of UA cuts - for example
UA MDT-ORD APR 4>0.7
I don't seem them cutting MDT from 4 daily to less than 1 daily.
Maybe a lot of RJ to mainline or Mainline to RJ changes that weren't filed correctly?
And EnilrIa, thank you so much for this thread every week!
I guess I am becoming an old fart: I still remember a flight on a REAL Aerovias Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation in 1958 but things get more jumbled in the old brain with the passing of the years, so this is lesson that I should not always trust my 'memory' but should check the source material! ...Jump to post

I remember this too. UA pulled out of ELP in the late 80's and returned sometime in the 2000s with regional service to DEN.
Trying to pin blame on AA for a quicker rollout or slower rollout is really not relevant here. The point is United is cutting the quality of the Polaris program. No one is trying to pin anything on AA regarding UAs roll out I'm simply drawing a parallel on the speed. The point of Polaris is not to ...Jump to post
