But does PTY has preclearance too ?
Otherwise you only eliminate the queuing in MIA on the potential BRU-MIA-PTY leg, but face the same problems on the return leg
Didn’t we have such suggestion a while ago, where someone mentioned that AA could swap A330 with DL B777 since both wanna get rid of the subfleet ?
So DL would receive additional Airbus and AA would gain extra Boeing and they could harmonize their fleets ...
United's application for EWR-JNB: https://beta.regulations.gov/document/DOT-OST-2020-0182-0001 Proposes a launch date near or on March 27, 2021. Very nice adds. Will be interesting to see how DL replies on JNB / CPT ... and if AA might also consider South Africa, but then from which hub ... MIA ? UA is taking over the Star Alliance traffic as South African fades and, possibly, ultimately fails completely - especially on long haul routes. I ...Jump to post

I’m sure they flew to FRA due to connections within Europe and possibly cargo - as Frankfurt isn’t a tourist destination. Totally aware that they codeshared but again passengers preferred the better hard product on LH metal, so trying other destinations (with *A feed) would have been an option. Look...Jump to post
Too bad they don’t have the resources to try alternatives in their long haul network. Why compete with LH to/from FRA and MUC ? Maybe VIE is the smarter option as OS is only serving CPT seasonal, or CPH and WAW with *A feed and no competition. Same goes for rather EWR than JFK. LHR is also a tough c...Jump to post
And Safair isn’t really a good alternative ... pretty old 737-400s with dated interior. Had them too often and they aren’t fun.Jump to post
I always had a great experience with Comair & Kulula, especially due to the codeshare with BA & AF/KL and no need to re-check baggage coming from a domestic flight in SA and connecting to long-haul in CPT / JNB. But the survival of SAA is also important for the country. Not necessarily with ...Jump to post
A non-PA oddity from 1985 was British Airways, who operated a weekly flight (BA25/BA26) Hong Kong - Colombo - Seychelles - Johannesburg, and with a 747 to boot! That very much feels like a route using some very old BOAC route authorities. I guess this had to do with Hong Kong being British territor...Jump to post
Might also have an impact on Skyteam FF's if they decide to have DP operate "non-premium" short/medium routes to Moscow ... many people are choosing SU to Asia and Skyteam FF's won’t be happy with this move. I’ve flown on the SSJ many times from SCO or GOJ to SVO and then connected to EU d...Jump to post
AA had dropped several other EU destinations for S20 but increased TXL, not a sign that they lost too much money on it. Also they received sponsorship from the airport authorities as PHL was a new destination on the TXL map. But I agree, not having the right-sized aircraft seems to be a plausible re...Jump to post

According to a statement of the government, TAP shall continue to be run as a private company with no interaction of the government.
Therefore slight route adjustments due to COVID-19 may be possible, but I think they won’t necessarily skip half of their network once a new leadership is taking over.
But that isn’t anything new ... I have flown BKK-CNX and CNX-BKK with both 777 and 359 in 2018. Amongst several WE flights there are also various WB flights by TG per dayJump to post
Hopefully many of the VIE based VK crew will get job opportunities at W6 / Wizzair, as they were just announcing a bunch of new routes from VIE. Sad anyway, as I was hoping that step by step the Vueling brand could be switched to Level Europe too. But with the reduction of routes at VIE and taking o...Jump to post

Makes me think of those negotiations with OS & SN [and their respective governments] are in favour of Carsten Spohr ... maybe the strategy is to not (!) get state aid from Austria & Belgium and then send both airlines to insolvency court, transferring the slots to EW and continue with less c...Jump to post
The point is that in the immediate aftermath there will be a vacuum where there are no alternatives left. It's not similar to the US where several major airlines compete over the same routes. LH has a de facto monopoly in the German speaking world. To expand on the point I made about LH consolidati...Jump to post
Why is this Etihad rumor sticking around in this aviation group ? All of you should know that EY as an investor could only be involved in a possible OS 2.0 with a maximum 49% share in order to not loose traffic rights as an EU airline ... I also agree that Pobeda as a LCC should remain separate from SU. They are better off operating at VKO as a budget airline. In the other hand, merging FV into SU somehow makes sense, especially since many flights out of LED are now operating under SU code but using FV aircraft anyway. From a frequen...Jump to post

With so many missed connections, I'm sure it won't last and they will come back to the red-eye I think so too. In addition to my earlier post, even the morning departure from Joburg leaves almost no domestic connecting options, especially from their codeshare partners Kulula and FlySafair. Anyway, I’m using this flight 5-6 times every year with connection to TXL. The new arrival time at CDG will make connections to many European destinations impossible due to curfew at may airports.
