They don't need them at Gatwick simply as they roll on the new cabins for Gatwick on the 777s they will fine and able to match Norwegian as the cabin is larger on the BA 777s. There was lots of problems leading up to their collapse.
1 reason is that they had a decent percentage of their business in countries like Egypt and countries like Tunisia but those markets collapsed and monarch had to restructure their routes.

Where did their 330s go? That interior has to be the worst of any airplane ever. My last flight with them saw 50 people on an A330 flight. About one row per passenger, but that didn't make those seats bearable. Or stop gate people at gatwick spend a comical amount of time measuring peoples carry on...Jump to post

So it's odd DY hasn't done MAN-USA flights. That's exactly what Monarch would do with the MAX. This seems like a choreographed dance.
