Re: Will UA return to JFK ?

The only real reason to go back to JFK is to provide feed to/from Star partners there, although it appears those airlines are doing just fine with O&D. Seems like more effort than it’s worth when all you would likely see is a couple flights per day to IAD and ORD, and maybe BOS, LAX, and/or SFO...

Re: Would UA and/or AA adopt a similar p2p/focus city strategy to keep up with DL?

In the 1980s, AirCal had the San Jose hub. AA first started building a hub on the back of that acquisition in the 1980s. Then shut it down. Then in the 1990s, AA bought Reno Air and briefly had a hub/ presence in San Jose again through 2001/2002. Then shut it down again. AA had it twice. Actually, ...

Re: The Future of ISP

Growing up on LI in the 70's and 80's, ISP was a thriving airport. Both AA and UA had mainline service to ORD. Tons of service to upstate NY to all of the college towns. CO even had a flight in the 90s I used to take ISP EWR ISP, and connect to SFO. Was super convenient. I haven't lived in NY for ma...

Re: Air Berlin Question

Good experiences on this end.. Challenge is Berlin Tegel airport. Give yourself plenty of time on return to the US to get through passport control from Berlin Tegel to US. Onboard is nice. Good IFE, Free beer, wine and spirits, USB ports seem to be in all seats in coach, and the XL seats make a huge...

Re: FJ cancelling flights to SFO

Most of the larger Travel agents in the US and around the world, despite the perception, continue to make commissions (although it is a smaller percentage than 20 years ago). Some also make overrides based on performance etc. there are even "travels desks" that negotiate good volume commi...

Re: B763 vs B738 / 4 - 5h routes

quick question/point - wouldn't a B767-300 offer more cargo capacity, where cargo is important on specific O&Ds? We all know cargo is just as valuable, if not more, than pax.?

Re: Westbound “Redeyes”

It seems like an entire market has been missed, North America to New Zealand/Australia, and North America to Asia. All leave late at night from North America and arrive early +2 days. Yes, I know Asia has early afternoon departures which arrive Asia in the afternoon and are daylight the entire time,...

Re: UA: P.S. on SFO-BOS?

If they have an overabundance of B757s that are PS product, coming off international routes, I would think that they will reduce the premium cabin to standard first. I can't see how they will make money with only 60 Y class seats and so heavy in premium (most likely upgrades and mileage redemptions)...

Re: 'Trump slump' hitting air travel

There most definitely a huge slump in forward bookings to the US, atleast from Europe. Anyone in EMEA who has access to MIDT, look at forward booking EUR/USA. Look at YOY results. Numbers are down when you compare city pairs YOY. Coupled with a declining FX rate for the EURO/USD, Most airlines that ...

With SJC service apparently doing well, any thoughts/chance of SFO be added to the route network? Would that dilute SJC pax?

Re: Do German planes have a unusually high amount of 'stinky aircraft'-incidents?

I have flown AB and LH (both longhaul and shorthaul) numerous times and have never noticed any odors different than any other national carriers. The best was when the AF flights would come into LAX from PPT and you would open the aircraft door and it was a combination of French cheese, rotting flowe...

What do you all think of AB's announcement about these new year round flights? MCO/DUS, BOS/DUS, SFO/TXL, SFO/DUS?
