FedEx even used to fly this route with when they took over flying tigers .. was cool to see FedEx flight attendants. They also flew LAX-OKO

State of Indiana spend 5 million for this flight it’s a complicated payout system .. but whatever it got the flight .. looks like Ohio would rather spend the money on fixing the potholes on I- 70 ... both have their arguments

These are not emergency unstable patients... they need more advanced medical care ..brain tumors and things like that can only be treated in population centers of 1 million or so and who pays the bill is important..

Most USA airports also fund a reliever airport that can take a few planes GYY (Gary Indiana ) gets about $3 million a year from the City of Chicago in case of disruptions at MDW or ORD.

Guam has the same thing .. some foreign nationals hold Guam only visas ... not sure how the new “heartland “ visa will work .. but the Guam and Saipan only visa system has been around for many years. So they need to preclear the Guam to Honolulu flight to make sure everyone is allowed in “the Big USA”

Normally on a lightning strike all the power shuts off for about 1/2 second to protect the circuits . In the daytime it may go unnoticed .. it’s a bit scarry but normal

USA ADA law says “reasonable accommodation “ must be made for people with disabilities of you can be sued easily . Other countries don’t seem to have the same protections the USA has

USA fire code is also more strict the Jetway provides 20 min egress in case the plane catches fire wile fueling..

You have to look at income .. not population the amount of people in each market that can easily afford to purchase a ticket... then if they chose to or not that is up to the market

It’s pretty simple you need two way traffic.. not many folks in San Diego buying tickets to INDy .. also most people just drive to LAX for better flight options or fly to SFO or OAK and connect.. Southwest now has OAK-IND that makes more sense for IND than the AS/VA poorly timed flight

What callsign did UA used when they flew President Nixon IAD-LAX. He wanted to show he was “normal” AF1 has to follow United incase it had to divert .. as the United DC-10 has limited communication gear onboard

There have been charter flights UAM-SEA/TCM/SUU but that is not the subject at hand UAM has longer runway and no obstruction like GUM

The CMI DC10-10s did fly into Newark sometimes it was fun to see them there I’m sure there are some pics .. per he union rules all flights that touched down on Guam had to have CMI IAM flight attendants so they got on in HNL ... Continental Airlines FAs worked all the other flights As for ANC-GUM FE...

GUM has terrain issues on one end of the runway and some hard to move Navy utility lines on the other end.. both have been the sites of much loss of life in the past (Korean Air 801 (1997) and Air Manila 701 (1976) So will be a while before fully loaded planes can fly GUM to SFO..

Lufthansa Tecnik paints planes and many other things in MNL. Most Philippine mechanics hold a US FAA a&p license so it’s a great place to find skilled workers for a lower cost

Again time is money 30% slower is really bad takes 10 hours not 7 so that’s 2 crews hotels overbite parking increase costs of many thousands of dollars.. If it made money someone would be doing it

Basically it’s 30% slower than a jet but not more than 30% cheaper ..a money burner .lynden aircargo had a few in Alaska to carry trucks and things for the Oil (energy ) business .. anther L-100 flies around “classified” electronics to places around the world that need to be “in and out “ quickly.. ...

GUS used to house the E4B (doomsday plane) during the Cold War... now they have a widebody paint shop 12,000 foot runway is the longest in Indiana and open to general aviation and airlines
