Re: Rest of the UK Thread - 2019

Austrian Airlines are taking over VIE-BHX from Eurowings in January, offering daily service from March 29 on the E195. Good to see another mainline carrier at BHX.

Re: Manchester (UK) Thread - 2019

Adria are switching their Ljubljana flights from MAN to LPL from May 2020. The new service will increase to twice weekly. That seems like the most random route city pair! Any particular reason? If it can’t be successful from MAN, how can it be from LPL? Not sure, I think the service is basically a ...

Didn’t they announce plans for Santiago a while back? It’s the only major Oneworld hub QR don’t serve IIRC. Or perhaps they could be the first of the ME3 to launch Lima?

Air Transat had been on borrowed time for a few years before they eventually pulled out, it nearly went a few years before but pressure from Canadian Affair kept it going. I don’t particularly read much into AA ending JFK, they’ve pretty much reduced everything from JFK including MAN so I don’t thin...

Does the MAN operation really require feed though? JFK and ATL are all about feeding the DL hubs and MCO, BGI and LAS are all point to point all suppress by Virgin Holidays. Would VS really go for an airline just to feed a few seasonal LAX and BOS flights?

AA54/55 O'hare to Manchester U.K. gets terminated after 31 years. Once one of AA's most profitable routes, but thanks to the terrible product available on their ancient 757/767's customers have gone elsewhere. Recent attempts to revive the route with 787's have obviously failed. Last flight Septemb...

An interesting question from the OP. What's worth bearing in mind that in addition to the Jet2 base springing up in recent years and Ryanair's presence, Flybe have a decent range of routes from BHX. So the question is where could easyJet serve from BHX that's profitable and/or unserved already? I c...

EasyJet had a base a EMA a few years ago which was ultimately closed as it didn’t live up to their expectations - the story goes they cannot get the correct yield from the Midlands. They have served BHX seasonally for quite a few years with routes to Geneva and Grenoble. Grenoble ended this winter s...

These flights will replace 2 BHX-DEL flights making that flight 5 weekly, so not an increase in flights as such. Spicejet is looking to start MAN-DEL next April SG061/062 with ex-Emirates B77W. At MAN the AA/BA JV is being soundly defeated by a combination of: (i) DL/VS flying into JFK/ATL with some P2P; (ii) TCX P2P flying; and (iii) the likes of SQ, UA and FI offering a diverse range of options. The market shows it's not a shrinking one, or that it lacks premium demand. One of the issue...

No, this is quite the misconception. Since the runway extension BHX actually has a marginally longer runway than MAN.
