Fire Bombing Helicopter crash west of Brisbane. The unfortunate dangers of flying in conjunction with fighting fires.

Glad to see that the pilot survived.

This will be a great step up from the current system in place thats 50yrs old. I'm sure that the USN & RAAF will put it to great use over the next many decades on the EA-18G's

Indonesia inks F-15EX deal....

https://www.eurasiantimes.com/indonesia ... er-f-15ex/

If this is true, would this be the most potent fighter jet in SE Asia since the RAAF F-111 were retired?

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - August 2023

Bonza are using a wet lease provider due to aircraft shortage. I assume Alliance? imagine all FIFO flights operate during the day, which probably means, many aircraft parked at night & at xmas people will fly at almost any hour to save a few bucks, especially when have to multiply it by few fam...

Won't be Alliance, not enough aircraft to spread across another contract.

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - July 2023

Same, it would have been quite fitting and a nice little throwback to remember the old airline. It used to be possible to re-use the registrations in Australia. One example (and there are many) - VH-EAA was a Lockheed L749A Constellation, then a Boeing 707-338C, then a Boeing 747SP. I thought they ...

Abit rough accusing the dead aircrew.
Until the remainder of the wreckage and aircrew are found, recovered and the investigation can get into full swing, none of us know until then.

Aviate, navigate, communicate....

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - July 2023

How many of the stored aircraft at the Asia Pacific Aircraft Storage facility in Alice Spring do you think will be returned to service? I drove past there a few weeks ago, there was 3 x A380s, many A330s, A321s, B777s and even a QF Freight B737. Whilst many of these are fairly young, there's a few t...

So, with the many leased E190s in QLink flying regular domestic sectors within the country, im guessing that there's a pool of 738's sitting around?

Tomorrow's JQ flight from Brisbane to Denpasar is designated JQ1057 instead of JQ057 and departure at 0820 not 0720.

Re: The end of an era in the French Navy

Oh wow! I was part of the flight deck team onboard the HMAS Brisbane (ironically didnt have a flight deck) 2000-1. We exercised with the French Navy when the old Jeanne D'Arc was down our way. They certainly weren't big at all. But did their jobs well.

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - December 2022

I'm currently sitting in the International Terminal at Brisbane for my flight to London via Singapore.
As I look up at the departures board, JQ 057 Brisbane to Denpasar was scheduled for 0720. It is currently delayed until 2145.... perhaps if at all?

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - June 2022

Speaking of REX there is an article in the Australian today about their poor load factors / frequency on the golden triangle. The airline said a four day sample of flights is not representative of the operation. Is the REX experiment working? On the 27th April I was on a REX flight from Sydney to B...
