Boeing vs. Airbus return on asset i.e. profitability ratio since 2008

Looking back at Boeing's vs. Airbus' return on assets for the past 10 years, Boeing's has been better than Airbus' by a factor of 5 or more, so maybe all this penny pinching and money saving resulted in this blowback? Look at 3.11 profitability ratio graph.

Russia civil aviation thread request?

I noticed that there is no Russian civil aviation thread here, can we have one here? Russia's economic is pretty large, as large as Mexico or Canada, so one is warranted I believe.

Soft product in first and business class in US airlines

The biggest problem, from reading about the soft product in business class from American, United, and Delta from various reviews, is not that it is uniformly bad, but that rather it is very inconsistent, with the level of service, or non sevice being a lottery, with a wide range of variance dependin...

How well would a swept forward wing airliner work theoretically?

Has anybody carried out a working concept on paper of a swept forward wing airliner, say how well would the 777 work if you put swept forward wings on it? It has been shown to work well on smaller aircraft like fighter jets, and would theoretically work on a 777 with the help of fly by wire technolo...

Depending on how things go, Boeing may be willing to sell a dozen 737 Maxs to PAL for a few cases of San Miguel Beer.

What happens if Boeing is forced to replace the 737 immediately?

What happens if the 737 Max fix fails to get the vote of confidence so it remains grounded until the Enterprise D is due to be commisioned, so that Boeing has to effectively replace the 737 with an entirely new aircraft?

What should Philippine Airlines do to make money?

What should Philippine Airlines do to make money, if you look at its financial performance for the past 10 years, it has been losing money almost every single year. Now some years ago San Miguel Corporation, who used to have a major share, had the idea of turning PAL into more of a budget carrier, w...

Re: Airbus and Boeing committing economic suicide by opening China aircraft plants

And also how government R and D subsidies basically dried up after the Cold War, and that too much faith has been placed on the free market, so yes the great big sucking sound of the US moving its industrial base to China is going to look like a massive strategic blunder in the next 50 year due to W...

Re: Airbus and Boeing committing economic suicide by opening China aircraft plants

Well if you want to argue this line further it was a boneheaded move by the West to have East monopolize OLED production, and that high end electronics is one of the strategic industries that the US should guard, otherwise what is the point of the whole Huawei controversy, if you look at the interne...

What if Lion Air pilots asked ATC for outside asistance?

Would it have helped if the pilot of the Lion Air flight, upon being stumped over the behavior of the plane, asked ATC to immediately call somebody from Boeing or Lion Air to figure out what is happening and why the plane keeps pitching down, or does this only work in the movies? Or does the call a ...

Concorde economics vs. 787/A330/777/A321LR

If you can get the Concorde to fly again, how much would you have to charge to break even if you were BA or AF? What are its economics vs. modern transatlantic jetliners? As for the interior, since you are only talking about a 3 hour hop, you could still keep the same seats, except for the addition ...

How do you make Boeing realize the importance of the Philippine market, and actually make an effort to sell stuff there? I mean the Philippine economy is booming and has a population of more than 100 million, and Boeing has not sold planes there for more than a generation already.

Is PAL making a mistake in its effort to become a 5 star airline in a market that not really premium and is very flight sensitive? Lots of airline, and airline related unemployment. I doubt that! I worked in the industry before de-regulation and it wasn't much different if you count for the lack of meal service, self service kiosks, electronic ticketing, Self booked flights, and schedules anybody with a computer could see. What would US domestic aviation look like with pre-deregulation price floors?

Theoretically what would the US domestic aviation market look like if you try to get rid of the lumpenproletariat and the masses flying the skies after deregulation by bringing back some sort of a price floor, so only those the upper middle class or above could afford to fly regularly? Say the price...
