NW flew SEA-HKG. I agree DL should not have cancelled the 788 order. They could have been used to fly JFK/SEA/LAX-HKG. Completely different idea: What about taking the 707-300B and change it to 2 engines? You get a long enough and well known fuselage, 737 cocpkit and cabin, longer gear struts and enough ground clearance. Wings have been changed before on the same TCDS (e.g. 747-8). WN is #5 at BOS according to RITA domestic stats but a 9.5% share is nothing to sneeze at. At a number of hub airports the #3 carrier can't even claim that. I pulled their O&D share of only trips originating in BOS which gives you a good idea of their penetration in the local market. Only 6.8%....

Long story short, DL enjoys incredible pricing power over 132+ million passengers per year I'm not sure if this is correct. Many of the people that connect through a DL hub have options on other airlines. Additionally, I would expect the largest metro areas to have more competition. Most of Delta's...

It's my understanding that one of the reasons the used 319 has become in demand is because they are so cheap to acquire; I'm hearing around $5M a frame. At those prices, they are "disposable" equipment. According to LAXintl's last airframe pricing thread, the A319 is selling for $5.0 - $3...
