I don't disagree that n/s from gateway is more effective. BUT DL isn't moving in that direction--they are moving very decidedly into hub to major int'l city OR large US station to Int'l hub. Inventory has always been loaded for them, even back when DL was asking to move HND slots. The inventory must be loaded- if they don’t have it then they are not using the slot as required after the slot waiver ends and another airline can swoop in and steal it from them and force DL’s hand early. Has PDX’s international arrivals facility been mentioned? It’s a clunky set up that requires passengers to board a bus after clearing customs with all of their luggage in tow to be taken from the end of concourse D to the arrivals area in the main terminal. Such a poor design.

This sign is likely a relic of the Northwest/KLM joint venture days. KLM has never had scheduled service into LNK.
Back in the late 90’s/early ‘00s NW and KL co-branded extensively. There was even a DC-10 painted in hybrid NW/KL colours at one point.

No. And even with a capable aircraft, these routes are too long and thin for DL. Remember, Delta only serves 3 TPAC destinations from Seattle (HND, ICN, PVG). That is unlikely to change anytime soon.

Asia demand has been slow to recover since the pandemic, but I think there will come a day when Delta regrets ceding the TPAC market to its competitors. So many squandered opportunities. International passengers arriving on AS all go through FIS and exit in the main terminal whether their final destination is PDX or onward.
