Re: 787 Trouble in the Future?

Leeham posted an analysis a few years back that predicted Airbus would surpass Boeing in widebody's deliverys by 2019 or something like that, and there was also endless articles about how the bottom had dropped out on 777 retail values and that Boeing wouldn't be able to sell enough 777-300er to bri...

Re: Emirates is exploring switching the Airbus A380 to A350

When a change of leadership occurs like is going on at Airbus, the new management usually (if they are smart) is looking to clean up anything legacy that can can come back to haunt them later, there is only a short window for this to happen before they themselves own it.So the timing to close out th...

Re: NW why MSP-HKG not DTW-HKG?

Flew non stop DTW to HKG many times on the 777LR it was great. To bad Delta keeps giving up on these routes to major international business centers like Dubai and Hong Kong. I bet they could make it work with 789's.

Re: How is the A350 performing for DL

Reading a lot of threads the last few years and just comparing all i have read 9purely subjective); 789's over-performing, going out fully loaded on ULH routes etc. A359, under-performing on ULH, some airlines cancelling and deferring, or in Deltas case deferring and negotiating options to convert t...

Re: Delta orders 10 A330-900 neo's, defers 10 A350-900's

Theres been a lot of talk on another thread about upcoming engine PIPs extending the range for B787-10 to a 14 hour aircraft, would the same apply to the A330neo? I think this new Delta order is bad news for the A350.

Re: 787 vs A350 range

Isnt the 787-10 bigger than the A350-900? Singapore has 3 versions of the A350-900, the ULR at 161 seats, a 253 seat version (i guess the standard long haul) and a 303 seat medium haul version at 303 seats. There new 787-10s are all 337 seaters, makes me think in similar configuration the 787-10 is ...

Re: Bloomberg: A380-Saving Emirates Deal Is Stalled Due to Engine Impasse

Why Boeing has the upper hand in the wide body market right now: Airbus went after the 777 with the A350, and Boeing went after the A330 with an all new plane (787) so the big seller the A350-900 is considered a 777-220er type plane, 300ish seat long range heavy haul twin. Boeing sold only 422 or so...

Re: United Airlines orders 9 787-9's

Seems like an all 787 and 777 wide body fleet has a lot of advantages for an airline that needs needs different capacity planes for different routes, you can cover 220-400 seats with the same type rating. I wonder about Deltas fleet once the 767,s are gone (and the 747 already gone) they will basica...

Re: Will DL return to HKG again?

I think they have the 777 back on this route (until the end) because the 330-200 was struggling. Sad to see it go, as a frequent Delta flyer i have flown many times to HK, to me the Seattle route was just awkward. I liked the DTW non stop the best, although it was a long time on a plane!, Connecting...

Re: Eric Schulz not the best candidate to replace John Leahy at Airbus?

Just throwing this out there, but it may be that Airbus is better off letting the Air Asia X deal collapse. If Airbus spends years trying to prop up the A330neo it delays the inevitable that they don't have an answer for the 787. The 787 is eating there lunch at the bottom and middle of the wide bod...

Re: Airbus sales chief defiant on A330neo demand as Boeing seals new win

If Boeing can build and sell 787's within $10 million or so of the A330neo, obviously its not good news for the 330neo program, but what about the A350? The 787-9 isn't that much smaller then the 350-900 and nearly matches range and payload. Thats got to make the A350 look pretty expensive, and it d...

Re: Airbus officially launches 251t A330neo variant

Deltas website shows 306 seats for the A350-900 and 296 seats for the A330-300ceo and doesn't agree with this slide. The A339 vs A359 battle discussion is non sense IMO Different aircraft, different customer bases. Many A350-900 customers have A350-1000s on order too / as conversion options in their...

Re: Why has Boeing ceded the 777-200 / 300 replacement to Airbus ?

6000nm brochure range might be fine for Trans-Atlantic or intra-Asia. But there’s a whole bunch of routes for which it doesn’t come close. Southeast Asia to Europe. Southeast Asia to California or NYC. NZ to North America. Australia to North America. Australasia to South America. Australasia to the...

Re: Is the 787 the proper A330 replacement for Hawaiian?

I think it unlikely that Airbus resurrects the A350-800 anytime soon after the decision to launch the A330NEO, I do agree with those who say Airbus needs to go ahead with the A330-800 even though there is only 6 orders. Canceling the 800 leaves a pretty narrow wide body offering and it would seem th...

Re: Did Delta Make a Mistake Acquiring the A350 and A330 Neo?

I am a Delta flyer and like flying both A & B products. I think choosing the A330 and A350 for the wide body RFP probably works ok for what Deltas strategy seems to be. They seem to be retreating from TPAC and forming some JV's, so the A350 being more efficient and with less seats then the the 7...
