Re: Boeing Removes 8 x 787 From Service over Structural Issues

8 787s. Is it just the 3 airlines which are affected? SQ, AC and UA?

With SQ, it would mean 787-10... And with AC it is either 787-8/9
Can these planes be repaired? Or are they going to be grounded permanently?

Re: Reuters: Airbus puts 3 A321neo and 3 A320 made for AirAsia up for sale

The Airline business is going to go through a huge transformation during and after the Covid Pandemic. For the next 2 - 5 years, I cannot see traffic climbing to the level in Dec 2019. I do see many airlines going out of business. Airlines are going to get smaller. I am curious about the Low Cost Ca...

Re: Air Canada Cancels 11 737 MAX, Oman Air & Air Lease Convert Some MAXs Into 787s

The only other airline in the world to attempt to fully switch to from A320 fully to 737 MAX is long gone. Can you please let me know which was the other airline which switched from A320 to B737MAX? Silkair (MI) also converted from a fleet of A32x to MAX. They did however get some B737NG as interim...

Re: Air Canada Cancels 11 737 MAX, Oman Air & Air Lease Convert Some MAXs Into 787s

A321LR/A321NEO makes sense. But A330NEO? Especially with the number of used (newer)A333s available in the market? I am not sure. May be for TS? I was surprised, why AC did not convert the MAX order into 787-9?

Re: AC A330 Fleet News and Updates Discussion Thread - 2020

In reply #12 above, the guidance provided by Air Canada shows 15 321's in the mainline fleet and 14 in the Rouge fleet at least until Dec 2021. So no changes planned at least for the next 24 months. ‘Planned’ is the operative word. Remember the MAX has become very dynamic word for fleet planning. 1...

With so many newer A330-300s around, I can see AC picking up a few more A333s. Great YUL/YYZ -Europe routes!! I do see some A321XLR in the fleet. But I cannot see a big fleet. Probably around 10.

Re: Bombardier reassessing future participation in Airbus Canada Limited Partnership

I still beleive BBD's share won't be sold at fire sale prices but somewhat closer to fair market value (whatever that means) due to the fact IQ can make a counter offer - if the price are ridiculous. Would such a purchase be consistent with IQ's mandates? Whatever BBD does would need to consider sh...

Re: Bombardier reassessing future participation in Airbus Canada Limited Partnership

For it to go to PQ will likely require Airbus increasing their share of the Airbus Private Limited. (A220) program Airbus will buy, at the right price. Airbus cancelled the ramp on the A350 from 10 to 13) month in current facilities. I am hearing nothing about expanding A350 production at this time...

Airbus already has controlling interest in the A220 program. They own 50.01%. BBD owns 31% with final 19% held by Investissement Québec. Currently with BBD suffering, BBD is looking at looking at options to sell their 31%. :stirthepot: :duck: I had also read that Airbus is looking at a new A350 line...

I'd love to be the fly on the wall when HQ in Montreal discusses the MAX fiasco. They were no doubt self-congratulating themselves for having dodged a bullet when the NEO was having engine issues. I'm sure the mood is rather more sombre now. Beech Almost all the NEO Engine issues were PW ones. AC b...

Air Canada. 1/4 of their narrowbody fleet at present. Their A220s can't come soon enough and their 320's are on their last legs and some of the oldest flying. AC's massive mistake to go for the MAX over the NEO will haunt them for years to come if the MAX isn't back soon. AC has been lucky that it ...

Re: Most vulnerable MAX operators.

I believe AC is unique. To maintain their MAX Pilot certification, AC has to get permission from Transport Canada for its pilots to fly the B737MAX as AC does not have any B737NG. I believe majority of the other carriers at least has B737NG for their pilots to fly to maintain their MAX Pilot certifi...

I do believe the A380 was before its time. But I do wonder in an aircraft with a 79m Wing can manage without folding wings. This would mean, significant work on the Wing in the future if Airbus develops a VLA in the future.

This is a major milestone for the brilliant A320 family, well done Airbus! The baby bus keeps going from strength to strength. Great achievement for Airbus. Once MAX Grounding is lifted, the 1495 delivery difference will likely increase significantly as the grounded aircraft get delivered.

What's the point of the door changes? Less weight in door, more weight in fuel? Doors are heavy. With front being some form of Premium Class, the density of passengers will be a lot less. So they can get away with removing L2 and R2. But the density for the second half will still remain consistent....
