CRJ would get Mitsubishi’s foot in the door and buy it time for the MRJ/Spacejet. Remember Mitsubishi is effectively relaunching that jet (or at least the smaller variant) and looking at moving production over to the US. I don't think Mitsubishi is buying the CRJ for the CRJ. Bombardier is probably doing what they did with the Q400. They'll sell Mitsu the CRJ (then Mitsu can wind down the production), and Mitsubishi will get access to the CRJ's support network and use that for the MRJ.

I would have preferred to see a JV between Bombardier and Mitsubishi. Bombardier has the know-how and support network and Mitsubishi has the money.
