Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

I used the CBX to fly on Aeromexico from TJ to Mexico City. It was a breeze to clear customs, I paid 500 less to fly business and it was direct, 3.5 hours versus SAN-MEX which would have been an all day affair transferring in Dallas. Aeromexico is a good airline too, much better service than what I ...

I don't think they will, I checked out the website and SD is all over the place in their advertising campaign, in fact the pretty SD skyline is all you see when you open the website.

Re: San Diego Aviation Thread - 2019

And AAtake' , thank you. I'll hope for an Alaska Lounge at SAN from now on! bb :-) I wonder if they'll instead contract with Airspace like AA does. Their operation certainly warrants some type of lounge for their passengers at SAN. Alaska first class passengers currently have access to the Airspace...

Re: Aerolineas Argentinas and the 747 in the 70's and 80's

I flew from EZE to Rio Gallegos on a 747 that the flight crew said was the first 747 ever entered into the AR fleet, this was back in '98 and the plane was showing her age. If i remember the plane went on to SYD, we transferred on to Ushuaia which was the scariest landing I have ever experienced; al...

Re: San Diego Thread - 2018

I read that SAN officials are not focusing on any more European carries to allow for the LH flight to become successful. I think that COPA to PTY is probably our next international carrier.

Re: San Diego Thread - 2018

I flew the AS flight to MEX back in late March. It was 60% full more or less both ways. I feel Alaska didn't give it enough time. I sure would rather fly from SD than have to shlep down to TJ, I fell most would feel the same.

Re: San Diego Thread - 2018

Anyone have info about flights from SAN-MEX? From what I know, Volaris left SAN for CBX/TIJ recently? If true, will someone else resume service from SAN. All that said, moving to CBX/TIJ probably makes a lot of financial sense for Volaris. However, I would think someone would take the opportunity t...

Re: San Diego Thread - 2018

Just returned last night from a week in Mexico City. I took Alaska's nonstop from SAN. Outward bound the flight was completely full except for a few first class seats. The return trip was 3/4 full in coach and about the same in first class. The flight was great and convenient and I am really bummed ...

Re: San Diego Thread 2018

Let me start off by saying I am the biggest San Diego booster there is. I would have been ecstatic if the HU flight had been given to Lindberg but I feel though that any international flights to our combined metropolitan area, SAN/TIJ, is a boost for the local economy. Therefore this new internation...

Just read the thread about Hainan expansion in the US in 2018. SAN is mention frequently as a likely candidate for a direct flight to either Shanghai or Beijing; what do you guys think?

Re: What's happening lately at SAN?

So there is this cool thread discussing Cathay Pacific's new routes all having a beer theme. I proposed the question that since we are the Napa Valley of craft beer; coupled with our biotech and tourist industry, plus not having a direct flight to China, that perhaps SAN is one of the candidates. Wh...

Re: Cathay Pacific multiple "beer related" new destinations imminent UPDATE: CX announces HKG-DUB, HKG-BRU and HKG-CPH

I am going to be a Homer here and suggest San Diego, we are the Napa Valley of craft beer, and we have a huge biotech and tourist industry that could mesh well with a direct flight to HK.

Re: What's happening lately at SAN?

Exciting stuff going on at SAN! As a frequent traveler to South America I would love for COPA to start up service ASAP! I remember booking a flight from SAN to NRT back in 2013 and not knowing if we were going to be on a 787, or 777, or what; we flew on the 787 as it was reinstated before our July f...

Mt longest flights:
LAX to Sydney Quantas 12, 7,497 miles (15 hours) I got an exit room there and back so it was a good time!

LAX to Dubai Emirates 215, 8,339 miles (16.5 hours) Business Class upgrade so it was an even better time!
