The C terminal was designed for easy conversion. United has a lease for more than 10 more years so the whole point is mute. Cleveland does not have a gate shortage. Fares to Europe via Toronto are among the cheapest available. Dublin airport is not very nice and very crowded with very poor lounge facilities for business travelers connecting. While Dublin has pre clearance--the airport is very crowded and has poor facilities. If you want Pre-clearance Toronto is much better and much better facilities including a star lounge after preclearance. My last connection at IAD with Global entry and security took 10 min during the 3pm rush period...

We have above ground trains going to the airport in Cleveland and Chicago and St. Louis. They have much more snow than Dulles area. Trains run very day all winter--snow is not an issue

Burke Stats

The new Faa stats have been released. I see the nice Hopkins gain listed us at 48th in the country but I cannot find Burke. It was listed last year or am I jus blind.

Any idea on the progress of construction of the IAD Polaris lounge. I was looking at the area that is fenced off on the south side of the C gates.

If you stay at a Hilton, Sheraton, etc you are staying at a franchise. If you eat at Mc Donalds, Wendy's etc you are at a franchise. In all cases you use the corporate name as a consumer. Airlines are just the same--United Express is United.

How to pay for airport parking seems to be very low on the priority list. Take the Rapid and you do not even need to pay to park up to 5 days

in reference to post 14 you are correct that CLE does not pay subsidy. However you are incorrect on the flights because several of the destinations from CLE
on FL have received subsidy from the destination city presently and in the past when subsidy did not work and CLE routes have been dropped.

Hopkins control tower radar went out this morning at 6:00am. Was on a United flight to IAD and we had to wait on the runway hold area for 40 minutes along with other aircraft as no operations. Once started at 6:35am one aircraft was allowed every 4 min to take off.

The Comet, The Electra, The Dc-10 were all grounded when accidents happened and fewer lives were lost in the same time frame. I fly every week and will now skip this aircraft until we get some resolution.

If they average 5 people per day (which they will not) hardly justifies a non-stop flight. Heathrow has no slots for US carriers unless they switch a flight- and Gatwick would be on the wrong side of town. They will not be replacing existing flights. This is the line up change that we presently know:

25 Cr-700's will leave the fleet from Go Jet
25 new E-175's that seat 70 will be added to Express Jet
25 Cr-500's will be added to Go Jet after conversion
25 Erj's will leave the express jet fleet

My best guess is that we will start to see a slowing Economy in 2019. If that is the case we will see more drops than adds in the Cleveland market. Expect to see Frontier and Allegiant to be the first to make drops on southern routes along with down gauging of Mainline carriers.

Correction to post 590:

United 757-200 seating is 169

United 767-300 seating is 214

United 767-400. seating is 240

so United has upgraded the seating to add about 10,000 seats for the summer
