Re: Connecting in Lisbon (realistic transfer time?)

Also worth factoring in that you have a reasonable chance of ending up on a remote stand with a bus trip to the terminal. Given the choice: if I wasn't in a hurry, I'd pick a stay in Lisbon over trying to rush a connection. It's a lovely city, not too expensive, and the airport is very close to the ...

Re: DTW latest to test terminal access without a boarding pass

It's to do with people trying to buy duty free without leaving the country. There are signs posted everywhere (including as you try to enter the security queue) about how illegal it is to enter the restricted area with no intention of flying. Nothing to do with human rights But that issue is easily...

Re: Most lucrative belly cargo routes.

TG's BKK-Europe probably carries tons of food products in the belly. Almost all Asian products here in Europe are from Thailand, from rice to spice. But wouldn't dried products like that travel on container ships? I'd have thought only fresh food needs to be air-freighted. I hope so. Mind you, I on...

BA Club World: careful what you wish for?

Having watched a few reviews of BA's new A350-1000 Club World product on YouTube, I'd be interested to get others' opinions on how much of a step up this really is - especially from anyone who has flown it. I have always felt more positively about the current Club World hard product than many people...

Re: BA LHR-MAD-LHR on the 777

Some flights are on the T7 and wondered if they use the Club World cabin for the Club Europe service? What else? The hold maybe? :scratchchin: Well they could use the Premium Economy cabin (assuming a 4-class 777), or they could even use the front of the Economy cabin with middle seats blocked out,...

Re: LHR and egates for Immigration at Terminal 5

As others have said, you will sail through the e-gates, but I think 30 minutes could be cutting it fine: - T5 gets very congested at around the time the TATL flights arrive. After you have landed you can be sat on the tarmac for 10-20 minutes waiting for a gate to open up - TATL flights usually park...

I flew a MAX 8 on that exact same route in January 2019, with WN. Most memorable thing about the flight was landing during snowfall, which is always a treat.

Re: A320 Flight This Morning

The vibration on take-off could be the front wheels spinning after they have been raised. I experience this whilst sat near the front of A32X aircraft quite frequently. Also pretty standard to have the lights off for take-off - I believe this is to make it easier for anyone to spot any fires from th...

Re: Best window seat for views per airport (landing)

Of course it depends on which runway, but some are more predictable than others. ⋅ LHR - Right hand side gives best views of London for the more common Westbound arrival. Landing Eastbound, you get a view of Windsor Castle out of the left hand side, but otherwise not much difference ⋅...

First of all, it’s Alaska Airlines, not Alaskan Airlines. With that out of the way the answer is yes, they really are as good as their reputation. Best in the US and very possibly the world. I'd be interested to know how much you've flown in Asia to feel confident making that claim. I've only flown...

Re: British Airways under fire for offering a new “afternoon tea” that doesn’t come with any tea

"Scones with Jam and Clotted Cream" are often referred to as a Devonshire Tea, but I do think that BA is using words somewhat imprecisely here. Anyway, I think BA should serve complimentary tea on short haul flights, simply as a matter of "this is British Airways so we've got to have...

Re: Things to do/see in southern England

I would recommend the Cotswolds. Base yourself in or near Cheltenham. Lots of historic homes and castles like Sudeley Castle, the palatial and Versailles-like Blenheim Palace (home of the Duke of Marlborough) and others. A lot of great places to stay. You can easily swing by Stonehenge on your way ...

Re: On-line check in for code share flight

I have done the same with a Miles&More reward flight booked through LH and operated by AC. What you need to do is: - Contact Lufthansa and ask for the Air Canada booking reference (PNR). This will be a different 6 letter/digit code to the one used by LH - Use this booking reference to manage you...

To (slightly) defend BA's Club World product: if you can get an upper deck window seat (with extra locker space) on one of the 86J 744s that fly into JFK with the new White Company bedding and Do&Co food service, and you don't mind flying backwards, then it is actually a great experiences. In the UK, people call Y Economy, and "Cattle Class" gets used a bit too, or just "shoved in the back" J is Business, but I also hear people call it Club Class, perhaps because of BA Less frequent flyers tend to mix up First and Business, but I guess that is the same everywhere. ...

Aircraft type printed on livery

I'm sorry if this seems a bit trivial, but it has interested me for years, and I wonder if anyone here knows an interesting answer. I think these days it's less about where you book and more about when you book. That said, I would never pay cash for F/J ...

I assume the S4 flight stops at PDL. I would recommend a stopover there. Sao Miguel is a beautiful island and small enough to do the most interesting bits in a day. Their A310s feel quite antique inside but that's all part of the experience. Also S4 is not strictly a LCC. You will get a sandwich and...
