Re: Central American Aviation Thread - 2019

Information per Aviacioncr.net’s Facebook page. Iberia has scheduled their A346 to operate the route MAD-SJO from December 13th to December 17th and will use their A350-900 from December 18th 2019 until March 28th 2020. Awesome news, to have the “raccoon” flying to SJO.

Re: Central American Aviation Thread - 2019

*puts thin foil hat on*

Interesting to see the movements AA and B6 just did with their new routes from SJO to JFK, taking into consideration that VOC was/is planning to start flights from SJO to JFK and other routes but for the time is being held by the category downgrade of Costa Rica by the FAA.

Re: Central American Aviation Thread - 2019

In SJO, when they have to use Runway 07 (east departure) because of the terrain and the need for more rate of climb upon departure I’ve seen them making stops either at PTY or CUR. This new route would actually help them in this matter since SJO sets at 3021ft of elevation while LIR’s only at 269ft....

Re: Central American Aviation Thread - 2019

So KLM just announced they’re including LIR into their destinations, the flight would be the same that arrives to SJO making the total trip now AMS-SJO-LIR-AMS, unfortunately still mantining the seasonal operation to Costa Rica. https://www.larepublica.net/noticia/klm-volara-a-liberia-a-partir-de-oc...

Re: Central American aviation thread - 2018

The Costa Rican government announced today that it approved the codeshare agreement between jetBlue and Emirates to connect Costa Rica and the UAE. All jetBlue flights to Costa Rica (SJO-MCO, SJO-FLL, LIR-JFK) will serve as the initial leg of the trip connecting then in the aforementioned airports. ...

Re: Central American aviation thread - 2018

I was not able to find an entry on the new Domestic Terminal inaugurated this past May in SJO (if there was please feel free to let me know or to delete this one). Located just a bit to the west of the main terminal will now serve as base for: SANSA, Aerobell, Carmonair (Costa Rica Green Airways) et...

Re: Central American aviation thread - 2018

So jetBlue recently announced they are bringing their "Mint" cabin product to Costa Rica, specifically on the JFK-LIR route, this translates to an upgrade from their A320 to A321 on this seasonal flight. This is going to be once a week service scheduled for Saturdays starting December 15, ...

Just announced on the news, new flight: YVR to LIR. SWG will operate this seasonal service from Dec. 23rd 2018 to Mar. 31st 2019 using a Boeing 737Max 8. Nice to see LIR growing on connectivity, this flight adds up to the recently announced MEX-LIR by AMX, I hope the streak continues, LIR could use ...

Re: Central American aviation thread - 2018

Honestly, I wouldn't mind my club, Liga Deportiva Alajuelense (yes, I AM a liguista), to call CM one of its sponsors, but I believe they currently have Volaris as one of its sponsors. Unfortunately Volaris Costa Rica is no longer an sponsor for L.D.A, they cancelled their commercial agreement just ...

Re: Central American Aviation Thread - 2017 (2nd Half)

So tonight was the inaugural nonstop AMS-SJO on KL. My question is: Does that also make it the inaugural 787-9 flight to SJO ever? I know Thomson is using the 787-8 to LIR, but I don't believe I've seen any -9 at all. Yes indeed, it's the first time a -9 has come to SJO, previously we had the visit...
