Re: Does AA regret retiring the 767?

The 767 was very inefficient as a passenger airliner, relatively lots of aisle space and little seating space. Too wide to be a narrow body and too narrow to be a wide body. I'd say they're glad they got rid of them. Ahh yes, the 2-3-2 being great for passengers but bad for the airlines (because of...

I don't understand why some people are so negative about this route. I just checked online and VN flies to FRA, LHR and CDG from SGN in Europe. Just imagine the massive fleets of 757s if for every a321/a321 neo they ordered a 757 back in the day ;) . AA: retired all their 757s and replaced with a321s domestically. Their huge and middle-aged 738 fleet doesn’t warrant a replacement a320 neo, plus they’re the ones who pushed for the max in the...

Last serious accident of a European mainline airline was probably Air France. Accident, yes... but the Germanwings crash in 2015 was a mainline mass fatality. Just no accident. Also Aeroflot 1492 more recently. That was definitely a serious accident at 41 casualties, and the plane caught on fire!

If you want a better wording of it (since we are all taking jabs at the framing!), we had just one fatality between 2001 and 2021 on a major airline. That alone is incredible even if it wasn't zero (again, Rest in Peace to the poor victim).

This is very much just an opinion without any factual-basis, but I always thought the 787 was too "elegant" to be hauling boxes. "Dreamliner" and cargo don't really go hand-in-hand either. How "pretty" an airplane is doesn't make it a better or worse freighter, although...
