DL currently only has 34 active MD90's with 32 in storage, according to the site below. The latest aircraft going to SBD on June 24th. If DL is going to keep flying them until the end of 2022, that's a pretty small fleet type.

LOT would make sense at some point. There used to be some pretty glaring omissions when it comes to Star carriers at IAD, but that's less so the case now. Swiss is a big one, but LOT is certainly another. Obviously UA serve ZRH and GVA through codeshare and JV, but I would love for Swiss to return....Jump to post
Any speculation on how the 737-MAX9 grounding could affect IAD or DCA operations? I don't think they're regular visitors to either airport, but there could be some spillover effect as aircraft are repositioned. The only canceled flights I see tomorrow on B738M or B739M aircraft to/from DCA or IAD a...Jump to post
Hey folks - first time posting. I was driving near Dulles on Sunday afternoon and noticed simultaneous arrivals on all three parallel runways. First time I’ve seen this in a while. Have they recently re-opened 19R or has there been some other change? I just don’t recall 19R being used in ages. Than...Jump to post

The 737 Max 9 flights appear to mostly be replaced with B739's. However, UA1878 is using an A320 and UA740 is flown with a B738. Also, a 77W is scheduled to fly SFO-OGG as UA1273 later today. This will likely help with the canceling of the OGG-LAX flights when it flies back to SFO on Thursday. Belo...Jump to post

EgyptAir has proposed new flights to IAD using their 787-9 Dreamliner. So it was confirmed in the investor call that UA will be retiring some 757s and A320s this year. Does anyone have any indications of how many or which ones? 3 757-222s (unknown which, but likely 1989-1991 builds) will retire in 2019. A320 retirements (starting with 1993 builds) will likely begin in...Jump to post
A good get, new airline. Any idea what gate they will share? With JetBlue on the way out would they take B70? That's possible. Another possibility is Z10 or Z7. Frontier only uses Z10 as an offload for Z9, and the same thing happens with Air Canada but for Z7 and Z6. Maybe even B66 since DL uses th...Jump to post
Royal Air Maroc has applied with the DOT to serve CMN-BOS starting June, 2019.
I think IAD will gain another international carrier that would start service in the 2nd half of 2019 or summer 2020. My best guess for which airline would be Swiss, Lot, Iberia, or Norwegian. Also, UA will start service to a new international destination. Domestically for IAD, F9 will add another de...Jump to post
Yesterday there was a BA a380 at BOS... looks like it diverted into BOS on a LHR-MIA flight. Left BOS at around 3:30am this morning BACK to LHR while it sat all day... wonder if they used the a380 gates? Also, a LH Cityline 343 diverted to BOS on a CUN-FRA flight! Left at around 4:30am and a faster...Jump to post
It was revealed at the MWAA board meeting this week that Dulles is in talks with American to bring back flights to MIA and add flights to ORD. Would not expect them to add MIA back after just dropping it or ORD service since that would hurt their DCA hub. Also, Sun Country might offer MSP-IAD servic...Jump to post
The international growth is great, but are there any prospects to grow/diversify the domestic side? Perhaps adding Spirit, Allegiant, or Sun Country to sunny places? I imagine Spirit wouldn't be interested given that it operations at BWI at the moment. Personally, I think the best petential might b...Jump to post
They could always get some prime-time space on the south Ramp and then use the mobile lounges. Qatar used to do it up until a few years ago. The tradeoff being a crappy customer experience. IAD international flights keep growing! Now three new routes and two new airlines will begin service in 2019. Maybe lower CPE, bet...Jump to post

Both the National Weather Service 7 day forecast and the TAF for ATL show max sustained winds between 20-25 MPH with gusts around 30 MPH out of the northwest occurring tonight into early tomorrow morning. I think naming Detroit the best connecting hub from this study is a bit of a stretch. I wouldn't be so sure EWR-FCO is as busy this summer as in the past. I wonder if BWI's landing fees and operational costs are significantly lower tha DCA and IAD? I suspect this is a factor in WN's expansion and competitive advantage there. I wonder if in retrospect the decisions for so many to divert to the DC area are being regretted, because the line was blasting south and absolutely nailed that area, as we can see from that pic of hail above.
