WestJet hedging their bets that the Max won’t be back in service in time for Winter 2019?

Is Onex still the principle owner of 737 fuselage manufacturer Spirit Aerospace?

According to Wikipedia, yes. But they also build parts of the fuselage and wings for the A350. My original post was a joke, btw.

This is the first YYC transborder route for WR, isn’t it? That’s going to be operationally challenging with the isolation of the YYC domestic and transborder operations.

Looks like WR does YYZ-BNA and Seasonal YYZ-MYR.

Encore also operates YYZ-BOS

I think YVR-SIN would be too long and thin for AC. If they could make it work, they would have launched it already. If you really want to get to SIN you have so many connection options in Asia from YVR. I would be surprised if this happened.

Can someone explain why they didn’t shoot this plane down immediately? It’s a confirmed hijacked plane, flown erratically by a suicidal man over innocent people. What exactly were they waiting for? Engaging in a target of interest is a HUGE decision, so it's not exactly that simple. They would need...

I wonder how the Westjetters in YXX / YEG / YWG / YHM / YHZ will feel when the flights they used to work have now been contracted out to a lower cost ground handler. Kind of a slap in the face especially considering these are all senior WS bases. Perhaps another seed for other WS departments to see...

WestJet was a single type (737NG) until they launched their Encore (Q400) and bought widebody 767. It's probably more common than you think.

Sunwing 737 caught on fire, WestJet 737 used slides to evacuate, per Tom Podolec on Twitter. No injuries reported.
