Why was Turkish flying the DC-10 between Paris and London when the terrible crash took place when, obviously, they could have flown it non-stop Istanbul-London instead?

I may be wrong but BOG-LAX is about 3000nmi, so it's doable with a 752. I don't know how Avianca in particular configured their 757s, which may play into it. Ohh ok. I just saw a video of an Avianca 757 at LAX in 1993.

Wouldn't Bogota to LAX be too long a route for a 757? Or was there a stop-over in Mexico or Central America?

An airline called Sunair started operations, and ceased operations less than 24 hours later There was a new Western Airlines in 2007 that was starting operations out of BLI with a 737-400. That lasted about 20 days. Western actually flew to Mesa near where I live at. I wish I lived near Mesa in 2007!

Granted, they were not scheduled flights but rather a stop over on their Brasil to Japan route, that is why I don't say "to" but 'into" instead.

Eastern never flew any Concorde. Only 4 airlines ever flew the Concorde, Eastern was not one of them. There was only one US-based airline among them, which was Braniff. Definitely not from LGA due to the perimeter rule, flights over 1500 miles are forbidden from LGA. MAN is further than 1500 miles from LGA. Even though it might technically be possible, it wouldn't be allowed.

I’m surprised PR isn’t expanding the runway for MAZ. They have space and the terminal is arguably the same as BQN and way better than STX. Both of which receive flights to the mainland. This one is for the old timers out there like myself. In the late 1970's and 1980s I recall arriving at SJU at about 0400 having taken one of the red-eyes from the NYC area. Every time I would leave the SJU airport at that hour I would notice what looked like 12-15 Eastern L10-11s lined up in order...
