Re: Updated: Air France/KLM Group order 50 A350 + 40 options

Interesting LOPA from KLM for the A350s. Seems like they're responding to the Schiphol flight caps. If we treat the 787-9 as an A330-200 replacement and the 787-10 as an A330-300 replacement, looks like we have an upgauging trend. And a long-term trend towards just two widebody families means a very...

Re: Japan Aviation - 2023

Is there any chance that JAL will use their 25 A350-900 options to buy an international subfleet of A350-900s? Think about it: 1. The options are there for them to do it and they already operate the type domestically. 2. The jet could reach Miami, unlike a 787-10. 3. JAL currently have no internatio...

I see this as an easy win for the A350-1000

CI already have 787s on order (appeasing Boeing). They also are taking deliveries of A350-900s at the moment. And the -1000 means more fleet simplification.

Hopefully the extra width will be used by airlines to widen A350 armrests (most A350s have 1.5" armrests, not the standard 2"). That would at least give consistency between the A320, A330 and A350 in economy class.

Re: 787 Future Prospects (787-9LR, 787-10ER, 787 New Engine)

Who needs a 787-10ER when the A350-900 already does basically that? An Airline that already operates the 787? I agree. Especially for an airline like AA, a 787-10ER, if it ever came to be, could be potentially ideal to replace their 777-300ERs. I do believe AA will be ordering more 787s to replace ...

Re: 787 Future Prospects (787-9LR, 787-10ER, 787 New Engine)

Some 787 operators could do with a 787-10ER, NZ is a case in point. After the 787 gets the PIPs that NZ require, are there any operators who need a 787-10ER but cannot get A350-900s instead? I don't know of any. American Airlines maybe, if they want to replace the 777-300ERs with PIP'd 787-10s in t...

Re: 787 Future Prospects (787-9LR, 787-10ER, 787 New Engine)

With the ending of the 747, ditto with the 777 and the 777X probably being 3-5 years too late, it would seem that, for the time being, the 787 will be Boeing's mainstay widebody. As the type is now well established, what are the future prospects of the aircraft in terms of updates and future varian...

Re: Boeing seeks to further boost 788 Commonality to Boost Sales

This makes complete sense to me. The more commonality the better, and the 788 is well-sized for the COVID-recovery era. Cutting production costs should permit lower sales prices, thus selling more 788s, and airlines which buy 788s will naturally be inclined to buy 789s and perhaps 78Xs as the recove...

Presumably may be right, I didn’t think QF had announced mainline were getting any? At least yet.

IIRC Joyce did say that some of the A321XLRs were "earmarked" for Qantas Mainline, but that's all we know. Most likely is that the orders will be split between QF and Jetstar.
