Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

EWR to JNB is fine. JNB to EWR would take some restrictions due to high altitude and hot temps in summer. DL was flying 777Ls to ATL, but now adds a stop in CPT for its A359 flights. A346 is four engine, which is generally better for hot and high conditions. Is the 789 the only plane that can do th...

Re: United Fleet, Network, & Livery Thread - 2020

Because of Star Alliance connections at JNB could UA fly the 77W on EWR-JNB or would UA have to weight restrict the aircraft cause EWR-JNB 66 nmi shorter than EWR-HKG and SAA flies JFK-JNB on the A346 which has similar range to the 77W. Any thoughts? http://www.gcmap.com/map?P=EWR-HKG%0d%0aEWR-JNB&a...

I am talking about the 1980's not the present day. No, you used the present conditional: could cargo airlines use a re-engined 707-320C with CFM56 engines (called the 707-700C) as a suitable freighter If you were talking about the 1980s, you would have typed "could cargo airlines have used&quo...

Re: Could the 707-700 be a suitable freighter?

Are you real? How many 707 that have not been turned in to tin-cans are left? There are only military ones flying. Why would you want a 50yr+ aircraft except for nostalgia? Why not use a ton of 757, 767, 737-7/800, A320/1 that are just collecting dust in the dessert? There are 4 DC8's left flying. ...

Could the 707-700 be a suitable freighter?

I know the 707-700 failed because of competition from the 757 and 767 but could cargo airlines use a re-engined 707-320C with CFM56 engines (called the 707-700C) as a suitable freighter similar to the DC-8-70 as cargo airlines often fly older planes?

No scheduled flight to Bagram, no. In terms of passenger/civilian aircraft, Nowadays you won’t get any civilian passenger aircraft into Bagram, nor Jalalabad. You’d likely fly to Minhad or another airbase around that area, and fly in from there on a C-17 or equivalent. If a passenger aircraft was r...
