Re: The Future of Long Island MacArthur Airport - KISP

Several times in the past, I opted to use ISP as an alternative to the other NYC-area airports. Getting to the airport on the LIRR and then a taxi was easy and convenient. The problems I had were getting a taxi from ISP back to the train. While it would be $5-$10 to get TO the airport, getting back...

Re: Why no second commercial airport for Atlanta?

I live about 30 minutes SE of ATL but when I was having to drive to class up in Kennesaw I'd see billboards advertising Chattanooga airport as an alternative to ATL.

Re: How is the Boeing 747-8 a good freighter but a bad passenger craft?

I can confirm the freight points. Freight can be packed in and doesn't need catering or legroom. The ~400 freighters are getting older and older and the converted freighters don't have the nose door. You would be surprised how much out of gauge cargo is shipped by air that can't make the turn around...

Re: Postcards for my classroom wall

Just as an update, I ended up transferring to a new school and had to pack up my old one and I'm still unpacking in the new one. I didn't even get a chance to hang these up yet but as soon as I get them put up in my new classroom, I'll post a photo. Thanks so much to all of you that have sent me awe...

Re: LY028 EWR-JFK today ??

Flight Radar 24 shows the EWR-TLV flight as being delayed tonight. I think LY has a maintenance facility at JFK but I am just guessing it would be for maintenance if anything.

Postcards for my classroom wall

Hi everyone, I teach high school science (environmental science and AP environmental science this semester) and we talk a lot about all the different places in the world and how people and their actions affect the local environments. I started bringing home postcards from places I'd traveled to and ...

Re: Delta AMS-JFK Cancels for Drunk FO

Sad, I have a friend who was in rehab. She told me there were a lot of cockpit and cabin crew folks from three different major airlines in rehab with her. This was not the first time in rehab for some of them. I wonder if there is a higher percentage of these folks who are alcoholics than in other ...

Re: Weirdest Connections You've Ever Made

A few years ago, I needed to travel from LAX to ATL and it was about half the price to route it LAX-DTW-MSY-ATL via DL so I did it. It was lovely getting to fly the 747 and the MD88 all on the same trip.
