There are no easy choices to make for new destinations from YVR. SIN traffic is limited and the distance is long. More China would be great but due to present political climate and the many Chinese carriers in YVR, maybe not now. SYD does well, BNE less so but MEL does not warrant daily service yet....

While the aircraft indicated Air France/KLM, not once did any announcement refer to AF, no monitor sign indicated anything else by KL. Sadly never had chance to fly. Do recall once BA Concorde departing from YVR, was directly under flight path, the roar was like that of a fighter jet and yes, car alarms were sounding afterwards!

My perception is that Air Canada rouge will get more North America flying in the future. AC likely will quickly rotate AC mainline, AC rouge and even Jazz flying as required by the market.

it appears that PR new A350 was recently in YVR. Airport upgrade to Premium Economy was only CAD150 for any economy class ticket.

S19 YYC-NRT stays as B767. 767's are supposed to be disposed of end of 2019 (Except at RV). YVR-NGO is gone.

If I remember correctly, SQ came to YVR in mid to late 80's, 3 times per week. Equipment may have been B747-300 with 3 class service. At YVR only the DHC8-300 (50 seats) and DHC8-400Q (74-78 seats) is operated by QK, along with the CRJ900 jet.

Ben Smith said earlier this year that B787 options would not be exercised, no new long-range routes would be launched and that route consolidation or even capacity reduction would take place in the 4th quarter.

My perception is that YVR-ORD-YVR o/d traffic is limited, unless incentives are offered just to fill seats. Likely ORD would eventually be discontinued if does not work or go nonstop if proves to be successful.

Ben Smith did recently say that fuel burn was better than expected. Also recently an AC 7M8 operated as a sub LHR - YYZ nonstop. Cabin crew have complained that galleys and lavs too small. J cabin (16 seats) are sold as O class on TATL flights.

Ben Smith did recently say that AC would also like to fly to China destinations other than PEK and PVG but that competing Chinese carriers did not have same business model as AC, that is, requiring a profitable operation. It will be interesting to see how this joint-venture will turn out.

Agree with longhauler. Majority of passengers coming from USA and very few are connecting in KEF. Fares seem to be very advantageous.

Ben Smith recently said that SIN was a possibility but that the many new California to SIN flights put an end to that. With reference to BKK and even MNL, he said that not enough J fares would be sold which was important for a business plan that AC has.

My perception is that the rapid international expansion has come to an end. No plans to re-start MNL, BKK or SIN, for example. No need for more B787 aircraft. The A333 makes sense for TATL flights from ON and QB. AC will be busy with narrow-body aircraft and associated planning for some time to come.

It's very difficult to control carry-on baggage. Passengers simply refuse to cooperate and gate staff have very little time to police allowance and other priorities like on-time performance matters more.

WS ULCC (Ultra Low Cost Carrier) Swoop begins operating this summer. Air Canada rouge is an LC (Leisure Carrier) and so not direct competition with Swoop. Might AC also introduce a ULCC?

I believe AC would like more China destinations but the concern is the numerous China carriers that sell tickets below AC cost to operate. Code-sharing and more cooperation with Air China is likely, however.

The loads certainly have been very heavy, I assume money is being made. I also noted that a reference was made to a new Pacific destination to be announced during the 2018 Olympic games. Any ideas?

AC may be the "king of density" with some B777-300 with total 450 seats (28/24/398). This one often found on flights to HKG and PEK.
