Is it not time the assets of the DAA (specifically the runways, taxi-ways and operational buildings - control tower) reverted to direct government ownership, managed by the DAA? This would alter the revenue requirements and debt shedules of the DAA! Which would allow for a realistic view of charges.
Jump to postIs the busibess cabin not 12 seats, as on the 757?
I rememver the cabin crew disagreement. It was scheduled 4 but ended uo 5. What has changed?
Surprised at the general lack of interest in rhe arrival of the A321Neo! Are we avi- maxed out??
Jump to postIntetesting how SWISS can be quoted as having higher reliability on other aircraft namely rhe A380 and B787, when they operate neither aircraft! And the A320NEO has only just been delivered!
Fake news or alternate facts????
Not sure that is was just Westjet! They were using 7 stations - 2 nominated check in, 3 nominated Bag Drop and 2 nominated Priority! Seems okay except the 2 nomnated for checkin in were not manned and 1 Priority was not manned. So 1 Bag Drop was used only for check in and 1 Bag Drop was used only fo...
Jump to postFor FR was it not also the case that they could not achieve a 25 minute turnaround using the air-bridges? Westjet to Calgary was a disaster at check in on Thursday last. Complete mess - flight delayed almost an hour as a result. Sorry but i do wonder sometimes if there is any brain at all in the ser...
Jump to postHas anyone told the DAA that its possible?
It is hard to find any decent attempt at a flow concept - they seem determined to create bottleknecks for both people and aircraft!!
I wonder which of rostering crew control or general under resourcing actually spells money!
And just before the arrival of the new A321!!!!
Don't have a trip report but was in Vlad and Yuzhno many times in the mid nineties! At the start was surprised to see the Alaska Airlines MD80 parked up, when arriving from Miscow it was certainly an oddity
Jump to postAre you really surprised by people's behaviour? There is bad behaviour every where and it is certainly not decreasing! If you have 180 people in a pressurised tube and you have 2, 3 or 4 rotations a day then there is certainly a strong possibility of a health hazard , every day! When EI announced a ...
Jump to postEagleboy - when ypu say EI employ no cleaners are you referring to out stations or DUB too? I gave seen that the aircraft ate.more often dirty inside than not but surely no cleaning would be a health hazard?
No doubt EI would accept that as a managable risk!!!
Kaitak
Could I ask you to please post your July intro - lost without it!!!!
SQ22
I realise you are a moderator and have a job to do! But without causing offence could you please leave the Irish thread alone
It is one of the best managed threads on A net and does not require any assistance
A quuck review of the site suggests you have a lot of cleaning up to do!!
JAmie2k9
And i thought i wss cynical! There are some base obligations when transporting guests and EI do their best to avoid those obligations. It is not that EI dont learn from mistakes, it is that they dont give a crao! And we accept the poor treatment without question!
LOI or not it is still surprising that a strong brand would associate itself with a flawed product!
Then of course BA's brand is not what it used to be!
Have IAG jumped the gun on the MAX8 or was it intended as a kick in the pants for Airbus? Strange that they would not order the A220 because it was unproven but order 200 of an aircraft with known fatal faults!
Big business is never boring, or should that be never Boeing?!!!
I think Evan Cullen likes the sound of his own voice. By now the Dail committees should be insisting on actual documented information or evidence on outlandish claims made! IALPA is such a champion for female rights!!!!
Jump to postI'm sorry but do we know that maintenance at AMM is sub standard? Where are the sources for this information?
Jump to postExcuse me Ckpaeg - Boeing DID sell an aircraft that was faulty and they did sell it knowing that a problem existed! So your point is? I am sure the airlines that have MAX8's wilk wait until they themselves are satisfied to its safety. The FAA comes out of this incident smelling like manure and fairl...
Jump to postAre you sure it's over the use of the build8ng or a disagreement over allowances? Currently airport Gardai are based in Santry and get alliwances for airport work
Crazy but welcome to civil and public se4vice life
I think it is because of LH that thete are no early morning LX flights. When LH took over LX, the early morning LX flight from Moscow was cancelled and a 9.00am flight introduced!
Jump to postEither aviation matters to the country or it does not. It us time the Pratt who is minister for transport called the DAA, the IAA, the regulator and the two prominent airlines to his office and basically says wtf?
It us all beyond pathetic!
We are at it again!
Apples, oranges and bananas - staffing issues have nothing to do with CTA.
And why would airlines pay additional for a service that already exists, all be it screwed up - immigration is immigration, no matter the lane!
Excuse my ignorance! I thought CTA was government policy and not airline dependant!
Sometimes it amazes me how little accountability and responsability exists in the Ireland of today
Enough said I think
The DAA run the airport so no matter what goes on there, they are ultimately responsible and accountable! I know strange words for an Irish institution! If there is a problem with any service provided to the DAA, then the DAA needs to resolve! I know a very old fashioned idea! You have confused gove...
Jump to postHave we a alternate fact planet here? What experts ate ypu talking about? The civil service? God bless us all what a sense of humour you have! If we did have experts, or even anyone who gave a toss, then we would not have queues at the airport, CTA would be in operation and the E-gates would functio...
Jump to postWe seem to have a mix of apples, oranges and the odd banana here. Fact is CTA should be in operation at irish airports but those running them couldn't be ar---! Brexit is not yet a red herring but were CTA in ooeration, then no problem would exist Now if we could just convince the DAA that CTA is a ...
Jump to postYour logic would suggest that as passports are checked leaving the UK, then passangers arriving in Ireland would also be 'clean'!!
However that is not how it happens
I have beard a lot of 'civil service' type reasons why CTA is not in operation at Irish Airports! It is beyond stupid that those travelling from irish airports must pass through passport control in Ireland! And of course Brexit will have an effect - currently non EU passengers go through 'other' boo...
Jump to postWon't it all have to be resolved when Brexit happens?
Jump to postSo why not use one of the unused booths at T1 and T2 and name them CTA. The DAA could even staff them to check boarding passes
Im not sure i see why there appears to be a problem?
Or is that thinking too simply
Sorry JAmie2k9, what government legislation is stopping CTA separation at DUB? If there was money in it for the DAA, the CTA lanes would gave been organised years ago! The immigration queues at DUB are shameful and in the last 15 yeras of travel through DUB I have NEVER seen all the immigration boot...
Jump to postDUB tends to be an after thought with some airlines. Almost like the poor relation Take LH to Frankfurt. The arrival gates at Frankfurt are always the most inconvenient and usually a bus trip away making connections difficult There are good loads in business from DUB very few ancillary services - ot...
Jump to postIs S7 still on the scene? Used to be Saturday night flight?
Will PS actually serve Kiev Dublin now that FR is on the route?
Does that also mean the farmers have been screwing the State for years too? Great small country we have!!!!
Jump to postRunning out of BOB is silly and shows a lack of professionalism. By now EI should know route requirements and stock accordingly. It is not a case of a lack of space! They probably pack all trolleys with the same stock no matter the route!
And Aer Space is going to add to the problem
A local push?
No one in Galway said boo when that airport closed
Who ever actually knows and with Shane Ross, God bless him, anything is possible!
A glorious aircraft The pocket rocket Flew all over Europe on them with Aer Lingus, BCal, Ryanair and British Airways They were noisy but so fast. One of the best approaches was Zurich where a single approach was made to two runways and at the last minute a decision was made - straight in or a sharp...
Jump to postI have rarely, if ever, been delayed on an Aeroflot flight. Connections run smoothly even with difficult immigration procedures Its quite debatable to suggest that America is richer than Russia, or any where else. Russia does not run $B deficits and Russia does not owe $T. In fact Russia has almost ...
Jump to postWhy does it always have to be the strongman of the state? Is it not possible that Utair is badly managed and does not have the revenue to cover asset and operational costs! For the record Aeroflot is a well run airline. Transaero was an intetesting airline but was also badly managed - it had at leas...
Jump to postAsk OA260 on the Irish Thread
He will wither know or have an answer to the problem
I am guessing but maybe two separate bookings?
It's an interesting problem
Good luck
Who is WizzJet?
Do you mean WIZZAIR?
You should have no problems. They ste b9th prisessional snd safe!
I am a fan of EI and i have tried when ever possible to use EI. in the past it was possible to book different carriers for one stop or multi hop flights. That has become virtually impossible or where possible it is silly expensive. In my case that EI is not in an alliance is unhelpful EI is inconsis...
