I thought WN had been pretty clear that the costs of operating into Canadian airports did not fit WN’s cost structure. Until those costs are lowered by the Canadian government WN has no plans of entering the Canadian market.

I don’t think it’s gone. Looking at FlightAware just now, UA 2418 (EWR) and DL 1503 (DEN) are performing the loop this morning. But B6 224 (JFK) took the more southerly route. Must be based on what ATC feels is best.

People upthread mention that the airline is relying too much on technology to be the differentiator and I disagree - new airlines, especially with new aircraft, have close to zero tech debt* but rarely invest much in technology as they fear it costs too much, may be limited by union contracts, etc....

Lived in FSM back in 2012-2013 and was flying FSM-MEM-OMA about twice a month before DL dehubbed. All CRJ’s pretty much by that time. Occasionally a CR7 or CR9 to some larger cities from what I remember. Caught an A320 on SLC-MEM at one point but I think mainline was down to just hubs by that point.

Most likely due to security concerns would be my guess. If you can avoid having to put a plane down with a “high value” fugitive on board, less chance of something happening during the stop. Even with all the security precautions.

I’m thinking in 2019, OKC will see: WN enter the OKC-California market, either to LAX or OAK but I’d put more money on LAX. AA goes mainline on OKC-DCA before the end of the year, especially if they keep the proposed flight times, that flight could become very popular. F9 eventually drops OKC, again...
