They do and they don't. The planes are owned by a leasing company who leases them to a NBA controlled trust. Delta is free to used them during down times i.e. offseason. Since the NBA and NHL seasons overlap it wouldn't work. Delta certainly uses the 757s on NHL charters, with 11 charter configured...

I'm no expert, but I would safely assume non stop should be higher priced over connections. So the fact non stop is same price or cheaper isn’t a good sign you are saying? To answer the second question, it does a lot of 88** flights because it's in the charter config and used mostly for sports charters. Looks like it brought the Kansas City Royals home from their series against the Mets before going to QRO.
