Seems odd they'd move from one airline that went bankrupt to another that's hanging on by a thread. Perhaps they just need something for a couple weeks to finish out the season then can negotiate something with one of the majors in the offseason. Were iAero's 737s in a typical 3-3 config? I'm assumi...

With iAero ceasing operations, looks like the Blues will have to find a new charter operator, and pretty quickly too. They're supposed to leave for Nashville this afternoon:

They do and they don't. The planes are owned by a leasing company who leases them to a NBA controlled trust. Delta is free to used them during down times i.e. offseason. Since the NBA and NHL seasons overlap it wouldn't work. Delta certainly uses the 757s on NHL charters, with 11 charter configured...

Jump to postInteresting stat about how much United has changed STL since pre covid. March they are scheduled to run 38% less flights than March 2019 but have 6%-ish MORE seats. Jump to postJust wondering, who flies these when it's the first flight of a type for an airline? Does HA have pilots who are already trained and rated on the 787, or do they contract the delivery flight out?
Jump to postJust realized that TYS is Knoxville, not Chattanooga. Now I’m even more confused I think it's because TYS is close to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge and all that? Jump to postI'm no expert, but I would safely assume non stop should be higher priced over connections. So the fact non stop is same price or cheaper isn’t a good sign you are saying? That’s how it runs for most cities to Europe. The nonstop is a bit cheaper or around the same as stops. I spot checked AUS-FRA,...

Jump to postThey are supposed to matter, but connections and other issues can mess things up. The priority tag is supposed to tell the baggage loaders which bin to use and where in the bin to load. Jump to postAs I've been told, a 330 in Raleigh and a 787 in Minneapolis is easier for Lufthansa to serve in the case of technical issues. So is the concern that with Lufthansa being the only A330 operator into STL that, if an aircraft had a technical issue, it would be stuck on the ground for longer until mec...
Jump to postThere are pipe dreams, then there's GRU.
I think we'll get a non-stop to Asia before we get GRU. And I don't think we'll ever get a non-stop to Asia.
FlightAware has it going to DEN too. What could it possibly be diverting for? My guess is that it is foggy in MSP, and there is some inoperative equipment that might preclude a timely landing. DEN weather is good, and Customs can handle the flight. Seems like for the purposes of accommodating conne...

Jump to postA lot of NHL teams fly iAero. Wonder what’s going to happen with those.
Jump to postSo if a plane is completely full and someone shows up at the airport needing 3 seats, then what? I'm fine with a policy where they get accommodated based on availability. If they get bumped off and have to wait for a later flight with open seats, fine. But I really hope paying passengers aren't gett...
Jump to postKind of sort of reminds me of Raleigh/Durham-ish Given the number of gates, it's very similar to DTW's McNamara A-Gates. Similar design/setup as well. They've previously stated the width of the new terminal will be wider than the current C concourse, and a dimension identical to DTW. Interesting no...
Jump to postAFAIK, the A330 and A340 have different type ratings and pilots usually don't switch between types, so did LH have to deadhead in a crew ahead of time to fly it back? Jump to postDid this take a Yyz frequency? Still a win either way as 3x to 2x is not that big of a deal It hasn't been 3 since before covid (and when it was 3 it was on a smaller plane, so it was actually less seats). Jump to postIt could also be that they found a way to make 3x weekly more efficient. (ie-have staff commute down from ORD and back 3x a week, wouldn't be hard at all). Are we talking about ground staff here? I would’ve assumed the inefficiencies were due to crew having to spend multiple nights in STL (3 nights...
