A very odd route announcement. 7 pw NYC and 3 pw LAX can easily be operated with 2 aircraft. That fourth LAX requires a third aircraft. Crazy to add another A380 for one flight a week.

Between 1945 and the reunification of Germany the only airlines able to fly in or out of the non-Russian controlled parts of Berlin were British, American and French. Dan-Air was one of many British airlines to operate flights there.

BCAL also had it on some DC10's. It only lasted a few months and was an operational nightmare. Passengers loathed the restricted rear cabin which resulted.

They should remember that there are far more UK airline failures the there are successes. Any risk assessment will them them that the financial risks are high and serious, particularly in a recession. The main market at this time will be travel from the US because of the strength of the dollar.

Ryanair is one of the top ten air lines in the world in terms of pax carryings. It looks as if it will be the only one of these to carry more pax this year than in 2019. Its monthly reports indicate that it is storming ahead and leaving all the others miles behind. Well done RYR

I am a little surprised about all this. I was on a British Airways Super VC10 in early October 1976 flying from JFK to LHR. The runway time achieved that night was 4 hrs 45 minutes.

Normal certification of new aircraft requires at least 5000 hours of certification flying. Does anyone know whether this level of testing is going to be required by Branson, Musk et all for their space tourism machines. If so how is this going to be accomplished by 2020?

By far the craziest of all was the Scottish Flyer service of Channel Airways in the UK in early 1970's. It routed Portsmouth, Southend, Stansted, East Midlands. Teesside, Newcastle, Edinburgh, Aberdeen on a Viscount with an average stage length of 74 miles. A money drain if ever there was one.

I do not see how the European Competition Authorities would ever allow IAG to acquire Norwegian. The very acquisition would reduce competition in UK- America and Spain- America markets at a time when the BA transatlantic joint venture is already under investigation to see whether it has fulfilled it...

That is going to leave them with a lot of surplus aircraft capacity. At least for the time being that will not change inescapable costs but will reduce revenue. That equals much diminished cash flow. Does not look good.
