Re: Somewhat confirmed: Delta ending contract with GoJet, Compass

Maybe someone can confirm that DL’s equity interest in Republic is under 20%. Still a good size stake.

Re: Confirmed: Mitsubishi Heavy Industries to Acquire CRJ Program from Bombardier

Have the US3 shown an interest? The jet seems unnecessary for them.

Re: BBD CEO: "We are divesting out of commercial, focus on business aircraft moving forward"

Wouldn’t winding down and writing off the CRJ be a better financial move than selling because of the tax advantages? Or is Canada accounting less forgiving?

Re: Scope Clauses Based on Market Type

Bringing all in house is way complicated. It's unlikely anything game changing at the regional level will change until some consolidation occurs. It's begun, slowly. The current regional situation between wholly-owned and 3rd party carriers is a relatively fragmented mess. Once it all Darwin's out, ...

Re: Scope Clauses Based on Market Type

Scope will likely continue to be based on seats, weight and number of aircraft. Markets change quickly and airlines can move mainline and regional planes around to satisfy market changes.

Re: Expressjet ending all CRJ ops. Will furlough the whole CRJ/former ASA flight attendant group

I believe it’s only a dozen or so CRJ 700s at DFW. I’m not sure who owns them.

Re: Big 3 (AA,DL,UA) Regional Airlines -2019

It would be interesting for UA to buy or lease G7s DL 700s. It would get UA close to the 50 550s they want G7 to fly. It would spare DL from moving them to another DC carrier.

Re: Big 3 (AA,DL,UA) Regional Airlines -2019

It would seem unlikely that G7 could use their DL 700s for UA. DL owns them I believe. Of course, G7 could buy them.

Re: Big 3 (AA,DL,UA) Regional Airlines -2019

So it’s a potentially great thing for G7 if they lose the DL flying. They should be able to staff 50 700s.

An out clause would be wise in the current environment. Trying to find a home for 100 jets could be a challenge.

Re: Big 3 (AA,DL,UA) Regional Airlines -2019

I don’t believe Republic has new jets coming. Though scoped out, new jets are always a possibility as replacements. OO has 20 900s with 70 seats coming to replace old 700s. It seems likely that new E jets will find their way to the big 3 regionals as needed for replacements. That should be enough fo...

Re: Big 3 (AA,DL,UA) Regional Airlines -2019

The end game for the regionals will be interesting. As mentioned in this thread, up gauging by the mainlines, consolidation, hiring at the majors are just some of the factors. There is also hiring by LCCs and Freight. Another question is how long will the regional model make business sense?

Re: Big 3 (AA,DL,UA) Regional Airlines -2019

Correction. Apparently G7 owns their CR9s so they probably won’t go to DL. Of course, never say never. But the CR7s, probably yes.

Re: Big 3 (AA,DL,UA) Regional Airlines -2019

Ok so a follow up. Apparently, DL's scope is 102 70-seates and 153 76 seaters. Per the table in this thread, DL currently flies 120 70 seaters and 223 76 seaters. Comments? Corrections?

Re: Big 3 (AA,DL,UA) Regional Airlines -2019

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe DL can add about 30 70 seaters to scope out, not including the 20 new 70 seat 900s that Skywest is getting. Or maybe they have to have 69 seats. Or maybe it’s only 10 jets after the Skywest order. DL is scoped out on 76 seaters. I don’t believe there is a scop...

Re: Big 3 (AA,DL,UA) Regional Airlines -2019

Another facet to the regional picture is that DL mentioned (I can't find the presser) that their regional seat departures would decline from the current 27% of total seat departures (mainline and connection) to 20% by 2023. That seems to make sense with the Mad Dog retirement/replacement, addition o...

Re: Big 3 (AA,DL,UA) Regional Airlines -2019

I don’t know if UA explicitly stated that they are reducing the number of express carriers like DL and AA. Regardless, it appears that the regional landscape will change, perhaps dramatically, over the next few years.

What would be the impact on TransStates if DL drops Compass and GoJet? Positive because they would be smaller and more nimble or negative because of the loss of flying and revenue?

Re: Big 3 (AA,DL,UA) Regional Airlines -2019

How DL gets to three carriers is still unknown. There is a lot of speculation. But Ed’s timeline is likely correct. There will have to be a transition period similar to EV to 9E to avoid service disruption.

Ed just announced Endeavor, SkyWest and Republic as the surviving 3 DC carriers over the next 12 to 24 months. The vid is on YouTube. I’m not sure who the crowd represented.
