Re: United Fleet/Network Thread - 2019

For what it’s worth, the other day I was on an A319 (850UA) that had the new style China Southern style front bulkhead. Anyone know if all of the Airbii will eventually have this? It looks much better than the old legacy UA bulkhead. That aircraft is the only A319 that has undergone the upgrade fro...

2 --- The 787 Diamond seats will not fit properly in the 777 fleet. The 787 cabin width is 1ft 3in narrower than the 777. While the seat is smaller, I imagine many of the interior components are the same and the 787 seat parts could be used to refurbish the 777 Diamond seats from the GE powered 777...

Re: United Fleet/Network Thread - 2019

Weighing in on the discussion, I have a few thoughts: 1 ---The refurbished Airbus aircraft and 757-300s generally look very sharp, especially the used Airbus aircraft picked up from China Southern. Most would never known those aircraft are approaching ~14 years old depending on the frame. 2 --- The ...

Southwest announced plans to retire 20 of the "oldest" 737-700s starting in 2019 during the FY18 earnings release in February. At least some part of this was in motion before the MAX grounding happened and WN may not have wanted to pay what it was going to cost to extend the leases post-gr...

Re: How was WN able to grow in DEN so quickly?

WN came in and grew during the Smiesk era at UA when domestic capacity shrank, especially at DEN. UA gave WN a big gift then. While WN has done well in DEN UAs recent focus on growing domestic operations has allowed UA to take back the a lot of the market share lost in WN during those years. Strong ...

I'm not in love with the new livery but I don't love it either. The only thing I don't like is the larger UNITED on the side. Personally, I have never been a fan of names that go over the window line. An ideal 'evolution' in my mind would have kept the UNITED the same size as 'now'.
