Re: West Coast Florida (TPA, PIE, SRQ, PGD, RSW, APF) Aviation Thread - 2021

Can SRQ temporairly reactivate terminal 'D?' Is it still there? Not really, they can park planes over there maybe but the terminal facilities for D were converted into a large conference room and it was drywalled off from the ticketing area. Where is/was terminal D? Anyone have any pictures or the ...

Re: Airport with two IATA codes assigned (TIJ and TJX)

One would think they have a legal obligation to process these items, baggage and cargo included, when entering the country one way or another without a specific treaty and process permitting this. If you have some sort of "customs bypass" thing it would get really complicated in terms of ...

Re: AA reconsidering seatback video screens

The automated announcements over the IFE has always been an AA thing (and to some aspect US). They even have one should they need to request a doctor/nurse's assistance on board. The Oasis 738s/321s also have an automated announcement system as well that does boarding/safety/ascent/descent/landing/...

Re: Philadelphia Aviation Thread - 2020

Shame those A321Neo didn't come with IFEs. In a post COVID world, I can't imagine IFE being utilized as it's just another touch point on a perceived 'dirty' aircraft. Personally I'd feel safer with my own device. For as much as people bemoaned AA not installing IFE, looks like they saved themselves...

Re: Why does AA start their schedule earlier in the day?

I often notice many options that involve a connection in either CLT with AA or ATL with DL between the same two city pairs, and agree that AA's options are just way too early - and often have longer layovers in a worse airport, on worse equipment. On many shorthaul routes across the east coast, it b...

Re: AA CLT growth

On my rare connections through CLT I am reminded of how un-competitive the entire experience is compared to ATL. AA's horrible on-time performance and customer service, tons of walking between gates, heavily banked departures leaving minimal choice of departure time and coverage during delays, some ...

Economy looks incredibly cramped and uncomfortable. So glad Delta stuck with the A330/A350 instead.

Re: Delta Widebody Thread - 2019

I think not having over suite air vents on rows B&C on the A350 is a major mistake. It can get stagnate with no airflow. And another reason why it's important to have the option to fly Delta metal on as many routes as possible - guaranteed air vents (barring the A350 B&C section like you me...

Re: Chinese [large] airlines and their subsidiaries

Quite different IMO. There are many regionals, but they dont operate typically under their own livery. Honestly, most consumers see American Eagle or United Express .. most have never heard of Mesa, Envoy, Skywest, Piedmont etc. In this case, it's the opposite. One anchor company operating or being...

Re: AA/US Airways integration status

The PHL LUS crews still can't seem to get over their old uniforms - still frequently see the old US embroidered aprons as well as the light blue US logo sweaters. There are so many different mix and match variations of the uniforms on a typical flight. Sure, new uniforms are coming eventually, but t...

Re: Why do people choose one airline over another?

Other than just choosing the local hub carrier (because nothing really beats a non-stop), reliability is important if making connections. For those that are going to have to connect anyway, DL often seems to be the most favored on the basis of its superior reliability (fewer mis-connects), nicer hub...

Re: Delta debuts new uniforms tomorrow.

Hopefully these uniforms last only a few years. Personally, if I worked for DL, I wouldn't feel like putting on a Barney colored outfit every single day just to go to work. I wouldn't feel professional serving customers in these outfits, and based on some of the grumbling I've overheard in the galle...

Re: The Downgrade of Hawaii Inflight Service

Hawaiian's lack of air vents in economy are an automatic dis-qualifier for me if there is any other reasonable option. Sitting in the cramped seats (horrible leg room even at 31" pitch as the seats are archaic and not slimline) is an especially miserable experience when you're forced to sit the...

Re: American Airlines orders 47 additional 787's (22 788's and 25 789's), cancels A350 order

All this means is that American will continue to offer a worst-in-class economy class experience for decades to come. The extra seating width on the A350 and A330 makes a huge difference on long flights. When you compare American's widebody line-up to what Delta will be offering (A350, A330Neo, 777 ...

Re: WSJ: Amazon to Launch Delivery Service That Would Vie With FedEx, UPS

All of the above is why it's so frustrating when Trump makes comments about USPS giving preferential rates to Amazon. Amazon delivers all items, pre-sorted down to the zip code, directly to USPS - on perfectly organized pallets. All Amazon asks is that the postal service delivers these items the las...

Not a livery reversal, but Delta will reverse to current (or similar) uniforms a few years from now once everyone gets over the hype on the hideous Zac Posen uniforms and realizes they don't represent the brand at all.

Re: Slovak government thinking about starting a national airline

The communist-era train network is extensive, serves all the major population centers with reasonable frequency, and the longest major route (Bratislava to Kosice) takes about 6 hours at a cost of around 20 EUR full price. I can't see an airline competing with the trains at any type of profitable yi...
