In addition to what others have said, you can also just look at the connecting hubs that each alliance has in Europe: Oneworld has LHR, MAD and to a lesser extent HEL. (British Airways, Iberia, Finnair) SkyTeam has AMS, CDG and to a lesser extent FCO. (KLM, Air France, Alitalia) Star Alliance has F...Jump to post
Reverse psychology perhaps? Trying to convince Hollanders that KLM cares about the environment?? Spot on! reverse psychology is not uncommon in other industries (e.g. retail - Patagonia clothing) but KLM seems to be the pioneer within the commercial aviation industry. I believe this is mostly aimin...Jump to post
Would TAP be able to launch new destinations in Northern Brazil with the A321LR? I recall Joao Pessoa had TACV flights for a while (it seems they are gone). But it seems it is too close to Recife and Natal. São Luís? Sergipe? Yes! Not confirmed tought. Draw a line in Brasilia, the capital, any city...Jump to post
As for upcoming 321LR routes, TAP’s press release hints at few destinations: BOS (additional frequencies from LIS or new route from OPO?) IAD (already known - winter 2019 replacing 330) REC (additional frequencies from LIS or new route from OPO?) NAT (additional frequencies from LIS or new route fro...Jump to post

Azul AD 8756 is en route to OPO on A330-200
I foresee this route becoming daily within 2 years - thoughts?
Would TP venture onto the lucrative Nigerian market? I’m sure BA, AF/KLM offer plenty of daily flights to LOS/ABJ? Maybe TP could get into that market by offering connections via LIS? Plus USA-Nigeria market, now that they are getting a decent USA network? Just a though. I've been wondering that my...Jump to post
Great to see TAP building such a comprehensive network in West Africa!
So far this expansion has been mostly in the NorthWestern African countries but perhaps with the new 321neoLR TP might venture into East Africa and/or expand further in the Southern part. Thoughts?
Air Italy is no longer taking the B787 from QR...it seems like things are going south...is Air Italy the next European airline to go bust? Just to put some numbers to it. There are around 1500 pilots in the SAS Group, earning an average of around DKK 66.5K per month + pension. A pay rise of 13% would cost SAS around 175M DKK a year, which is almost 20% of their profits. That's not realistic, not by a long shot Sharing 20% of profits o...Jump to post

TP is increasing OPO-GRU frequencies despite Azul start flying to OPO this summer.

If LIS can support 2x daily 777 flights why shouldn’t OPO be able to cope with 4x weekly flights? Besides, I believe OPO will continue to benefit from LIS capacity limitations. For sure that EK has taken in consideration the considerable catchment area (North Portugal + Galicia) and the lack of flig...Jump to post

Before they expand any further, they should really invest into a passenger traffic management center, which analyse delays in the network and take various actions so that passengers can make their connecting flights. “TAP grew more than 10 percent in 2018 and carried about 16 million passengers”

How will LIS keep up with all this growth?? Even if the new airport for LCC in Montijo opens, the current LIS airport is bound to become a bottleneck in TAP's ambitious expansion plans, right? Also, with more A321NEO LR joining TP's fleet will we see more TATL flights from OPO and PDL (as hinted by ...Jump to post
Is LIS-TLV a one-off adventure in the Middle East or is it a change in TP's expansion strategy?
Perhaps expanding TP's network in the Middle East (mostly Levant region, not GCC) might be a good feeder to their long-haul routes - e.g. BEY as there is a big Lebanese community in Canada/US and Brazil).
