Re: Australian Aviation - January 2024

Why on Earth would Qantas paint their Link branded aircraft a different colour? So long as the average passenger see the red tail and a jet aircraft they won’t discern between that and a mainline aircraft, which is great from the QF perspective. Hopefully the subsidiary airlines continue to grow kee...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - May 2023

It’s all very easy to blame airport staff/cabin crew for the mess that is Qantas premium boarding. Generally, there are only 2 staff members at a boarding gate… 1 ground, 1 cabin crew. On a full 737, they are BUSY. I have watched countless times and basically, every time it’s different. Sure, in a p...

Re: Battery Pack Fire on Spirit on 1 March 23 - Diversion to Jacksonville

As a flight attendant, this is becoming something im getting increasingly worried about. The number of batteries on board in devices, power banks and now installed in carry on baggage is becoming ridiculous. I fear this will become an ever growing danger and unfortunately will only be properly addre...

Re: Three-point disembarkation system: IndiGo

This won’t work as well (or as safely) on a 738-800 due to the fact that the R1 door is smaller than the L1 door. I’ve learnt the hard way when a few years ago I re-entered the aircraft from having a look inside the catering truck and I banged my head against the aircraft …silly me assumed it was th...

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - April 2022

I remember meeting a Delta flight attendant on one of the flights I was operating on (she was here on holidays ) Anyway we were comparing contracts (we were both on legacy contracts) and I was gobsmacked by her hourly rate. It was something like USD69 an hour or something …maybe not that much but it...

Awesome thread!
Any chance we can see more pages of that 747 One Year On brochure?
The front cover alone is fabulous

According to media reports this morning, looks like Rex is seriously considering buying jets to operate the main trunk routes, positioning themselves in between QF and JQ but with a lower cost base.

Interesting times!!

I'd also like to thank you for your informative and detailed post
Took me back to the good old days off aviation when I first started my career
I'm still hanging in there after 30 years. Your post really highlights the changes the industry has experienced.

They were such exciting, heady times

I look forward to your next posts

Im going to throw a spanner in the works here...Now stay with me....
No one can argue that the Boeing 737 was/is a massive success for Boeing.
Now if you add 7 + 3 + 7 you get 17
1+7 = 8

Maybe the Chinese were right after all ;)))

Re: Australian Aviation Thread - December 2018

Helping at an old folk's home, cat shelter or opshop is contributing to the wider community. Unpaid volunteering for a multi billion dollar company simply isn't. Swapping a few hours in the office for working on the shop floor is great but coming into work for no extra pay is pretty stingy That, in...

Good for them
Its time that the industrial landscape was rebalanced a tad.
This part of the world lurching to far to the right for my liking and the workers are not getting fair compensation and conditions.
Strong, smart and fair unions are needed now more than ever

Re: Delta Intl’ Economy Meal Trial

Like somebody mentioned earlier, Qantas have been doing the same for a while now ... no trays. It is absolutely a cost saving measure in that all the work that was done by the catering staff has now been transferred to cabin crew. Everything is bulk loaded onto the aircraft and the crew have to asse...

Re: Leaked Sneak Peek: United New Uniforms

Maybe I’m missing something but I can’t see any likeness to the Qantas uniform. It’s not just the colours, the designs themselves look very different to me. Have a look at the female dress with the diagonal colour design on the QF uniform and compare it to the UA pic. Both uniforms even had 3 diffe...

They are practically identical to the Qantas female uniform but without the color
I can’t believe they would do something so similar
