When I flew to Mauritius from Perth there was a fair amount of transit passengers for Europe. So it can function as another stop on the kangaroo route from Perth. I believe the flights arriving from Perth and departing to Europe are perfectly timed IIRC.

I'm not sure about in others regions but in Australia they pay one of the lowest commissions to travel agents, it's a no brainer to book passengers on other airlines. Even QF on flights to HKG earn better commision, so I know what airline I'm booking my passengers on!
