While Covid related fleet reductions certainly made the strategy more obvious, the idea of focusing on a set of key international markets and leveraging partners goes back years at AA. I believe the more recent management teams have been far more clear in explaining the strategy and now have doubled...

Considering the 787-9s will be coming with a larger premium cabin, I get the feeling AA does not have many markets in mind for them and is willing to stretch out their delivery further based on the wording of the spokesperson's statement.

The passenger number vs movement/slot, restriction is pretty absurd. If anything, it should be viewed as a positive that the airlines are moving more folks with the same number of movements. Again, JL could simply just kill their NRT-JFK flight entirely. DOT can't get into all types of future hypotheticals. Good to see US-China flying increasing, while Chinese airlines start returning to nice profits also.
It probably means the Chinese airlines earn most of their profit on international flying as domestic volumes had rebounded quickly early in the year, but international flying took longer to resume.

Unable or unwilling? They serve more cities on their own metal than any us carrier to hnd and just opened a new lounge at hnd.
