Things are starting to fall into place. Not for El Al but for the other 2 Israeli airlines. Israir, Israel 3rd largest airline, will get a 100M NIS (about 28M USD) loan soon. Arkia, the 2nd largest airline, might get a loan soon, they are still debating with the government about its terms. Arkia is ...Jump to post
El Al was already planing to cancel the first class on the 777s before this crisis. The 777s should be getting a the same interior like the 787, meaning no first class, new and better business class , new premium economy class and higher density economy. The 777s are owned by El Al, not leased. Sell...Jump to post
EL AL is Israel Under absolutely no circumstances will the Israeli government let its airline down. The country needs a strong flag carrier to keep the country connected and independent from any foreign airlines. Exactly. El Al is Israel and in Israel things work quite differently then how they wor...Jump to post
Arkia to cut at least 50 employees and cut back on salaries. The new routes to COK and GOI (operated by the new A321neoLR) will also stop operating next march and might not be resumed.

Jerusalem will not see passenger service again, IMO. 20 min high-speed rail will be coming sooner than widespread international recognition, and furthermore, open and functioning embassies and consulates, to Jerusalem. There's really no need for a separate airport with a connection to TLV that's ab...Jump to post
With the opening of the US embassy and Trump's approval of the Golan Heights annexation, will Atarot be reopened to passenger and charter flights? No, there is almost zero chance for that. JRS was closed due to security concerns long ago. Since then the concerns only got worse. Parts of the airport...Jump to post
El Al is selling used 767-300ER to a foreign airline

That might be 4x-eak, AFAIK the only 767 owned by ElAl and not leased.
So any rumors about where the HiFly A380 is going after Air Austral? /MistaP Some Israeli sites suggest it may arrive to TLV soon, probably doing some charter flights. https://m.ynet.co.il/Articles/5328084 I have no English link but the text says that HiFly has contacted the airport authorities ask...Jump to post
This situation is a common practice in Israel. It's often when one government official makes a decision that will effect other national services the wrong way, no one seems to care up until the last minute, then one of the ministers steps in and fix the situation, usually temporally. So don't worry ...Jump to post
As I see it, Elal had very little options here. Rynair, Easyjet, Wizzair and many other low cost carriers are giving some hard time on the low cost side of things. Local charter airlines like Arkia and Israir are taking their toll on the leisure side, offering cheap deals for hotel and flight combin...Jump to post
Do Israeli's are allowed to enter Saudi Arabia and other neighbours Gulf countries? Generally no, but there are many exceptions to that rule. Muslem-Israeli's can go to Saudi Arabia to join the Hajj pilgrim and Israeli's athletes usually get permission to enter Dubai or Qatar to perform. Of course ...Jump to post
I wonder if the fly over rights will sometime become bilateral and flights from Europe to Riyadh could fly over Israeli airspace and short some of the distance. For example this flight from London to Riyadh fly quite a long detour to avoid Israel and Syria air space. https://preview.ibb.co/mNG6h7/Ca...Jump to post
Forgive me, I vaguely recall seeing on a.net LY doesn’t fly on Sunday’s - is this still correct? That’s got to kill fleet utilisation, and crew costs at layover ports? Not to mention reduce schedule attractiveness? There's no problem on Sundays, The problem is on Saturday. But LY kinda solves this ...Jump to post
In order to short the flight time, flights will have to also go over Oman, another country that doesn't have any relations with Israel.
And it will be interesting to see if El Al will follow and cut the way to India and Thiland on their flights. Might also help Arkia that has plans at those routes.
