Re: Southwest Crew Base in Hawaii?

Would not be surprising to see WN close Hawaii altogether. It was one lowest RASM operation in the network pre-Covid. Their timing was bad for the launch (virus) and the 737 is a horrible aircraft to ride in for more than a couple of hours. I'll admit I was one of the haters before SWA started HA s...

Re: WN could cut service to some cities without additional COVID-19 aid

I don’t think too many carriers factor in crew “abuse” for a 3 hour time change to add costly inter island flying. They added the inter island flying because of their lack of ability to do all nighters and to attempt to poach HA traffic. SW is cornered a bit with their Hawaii flying because of the ...

Re: WN could cut service to some cities without additional COVID-19 aid

They haven’t said anything about it. This is just speculation. And flying “empty” planes to Hawaii (they’re not the only ones) is out of necessity to rotate aircraft and crews to handle the interisland operation (which has been up and down in relation to quarantines being imposed and lifted). Hawai...

Inter-island quarantine is still in effect as of Oct 15th. Why would u want to compete against Hawaiian in those markets??? Not enough traffic.

As the article says "The humidity in California is much lower than in Australia, so it’s much better for long-term storage of aircraft – the same reason why we’ve moved our A380s there".

from BOI, PVU, RNO, GEG... We will return to having five carriers with one-stop services HNL/OGG-BOI/SLC/RNO/GEG. HA is not going to win as the sixth carrier in the market. Re: Will this be the year Southwest Airlines finally doesn't make a profit?

I don't get why people flaunt WN as some LCC, they aren't anymore and have fares usually higher than others. People like to say free bags! Well that doesn't matter when people aren't flying. They can't really justify high fares either, so it's a double whammy. Uh huh, arrogance with Hawaii is alrea...

I believe you should include Alaska's numbers since they fly same routes. In the the long run fares will remain depressed and demand will fall for Hawaii travel long term. With new legislation restricting air bnb rentals in Oahu-I believe there are a glut of seats to HNL with a lack of hotel rooms. ...

I've only flown the 330 once in the last few months as my quarterly trips to PPG were cut back, but it is a step up. (A colleague still...

Is this the 'beat-up' 767 they usually fly me to PPG on? An upgrade would be nice, though they own the monopoly on the route so I get the business case behind using the older plane.
