Re: DL YVR - SEA runs

YVR-SEA is popular, but there's a reason it's AS and DL putting the 737s on it rather than AC or WestJet. Connections through SEA are insanely popular for us Vancouverites, as direct flights to LAX, SFO, etc. are very pricey. The 737s are during DL's and AS's banks, as they get tons of passengers co...

Re: Why doesn't HA fly to Canada or TS/WG fly to Hawaii?

Point of sale is skewed towards the Canada side which gives AC and WS the advantage. That doesn't explain why Transat and Sunwing don't do it then. I feel like the market is just so saturated already that adding more carriers won't work. AC and WS already fly so many Hawaiian routes with rather hig...

Re: HNL-LON Nonstop?

HNL is so low-yield it's just way easier to connect through LAX or SFO, etc.

Re: What would you do if someone was sitting at your assigned seat?

Just this march this happened to me - on an AF flight from CDG to YVR, there was this really nice couple sitting... right in my seat. Well, not both of them ;) just the wife. I just asked nicely and they moved. Luckily not much of a fuss.

Re: Craziest Airline Routes from the Past?

Wow! Much more information than I was expecting. @ those of you complaining about the routes not being out of the ordinary for the time - I understand that, but they're still quite interesting nonetheless. My addition is Nauru Airlines. They had routes all over Asia, etc. - average load factor was 2...

Cool! By crazy I mean something that doesn't really make much financial sense / weird routings, etc.

Re: New European route from YHZ?

Exciting! I'm sorta hoping it's some sort of AC announcement, maybe the rumored FRA route, but with their current operational issues I sort of doubt it. I feel like WestJet might introduce somewhere sunny, such as Portugal on a MAX or an NG. Or it could just be a resumption of the KEF service lol.

Craziest Airline Routes from the Past?

I was reading through the thread about Malaysia's previous routes to YVR, MEX, EZE, etc., and that got me thinking - what are the craziest routes you've heard of from each airline. I heard something mentioned once about Iraqi Airways in GIG and other stuff like that, but I'm curious to hear more. Al...

Easy. A 747-8i

Second choice would be a 777-300ER.

Same here. They’re both great as is.

MD-11. Since cargo doesn’t count.

Re: AR EZE- PUJ 737 MAX 8 longest commercial flight

I think it's crazy too. This is probably what killed our parents and grandparents when jet travel first started and they had to endure long haul flight in narrow bodies with small seats and low pitch. Even the 747 with the same seat width as the 737 just wasn't worth it. People should've stayed hom...

In addition to more pilots, some airports might have to expand. But I would still think that this could be something interesting. Currently, however, the ERJ145XR has a range of 2000 nmi which is a lot, and the twin otter has 1000 which could mean flights longer than YVR-LAX on a 19-seater. And that...

This actually makes a lot of sense to me. It is not possible to fly from Asia to South America direct, and Spain to Brazil probably has a bit of demand. So it would probably be a good flight for profits.

Re: Updated Air Canada fleet planes calls for excelerated phase out of E190s, 767s to exit by the end of 2019

Those A319's have turned out to be such workhorses for AC. They fly them on some pretty long segments too. I've enjoyed a lot of flights on them. I personally wouldn't use the word enjoy for my A319 flights with AC, however, I think that their A319s are the best in the world, as far as A319s go. Th...
